Options, accessories and services

Mechanical options listed in the brochure include special flanges and shafts, locked, roller or special bearings, terminal box on the side, SPM vibration probe, double ended shafts, cable gland fitted to the terminal box, condensation drain valve, grade A or B vibration levels, rain cap, sun shield or water shredding disk, low noise, an auxiliary terminal box and an increased safety Ex eb terminal box in AISI 316 stainless steel. Low temperature motors for -60 C are listed. Accessories include forced ventilation (IC416), encoders from 100 to 10,000 ppr, bearing sensors, bimetallic thermal protection, PTC thermistors, Pt-100 and anti-condensation heaters. Electrical options include special voltage and frequency, two speeds, single phase with permanent capacitor, tropical climate construction, Class H insulation and suitability for frequency converter drives.

The brochure also lists brake options on related series and engineering services: start-up behavior analysis, superimposed motor and driven machine curves, load and thermal tests per IEC 60034-2-1, torque speed curve measurement, insulation tests, ATEX, IECEx and UL approved thermal tests, and Bureau Veritas and Korean Register type approval for naval applications.

Selection guidance

Ex db flameproof motors are chosen when the gas group, zone and temperature class require flameproof containment of an internal ignition. Select by power, poles, frame, voltage and frequency, mounting, cooling method and the gas or dust group and temperature class of the area. Where the motor is driven by a frequency converter, confirm the thermal protection and whether the certificate covers inverter duty. The brochure is a range overview with reference values, so certificate scope, performance data and nameplate marking have to be confirmed for the exact motor.

Documents and quotation

Send frame size or kW, poles, voltage, frequency, mounting, duty, zone, gas or dust group, temperature class, ambient range and required accessories. Never assume certification beyond what the brochure states for each protection type.

About brand

CEMP is an Italian manufacturer of flameproof and hazardous-area electric motors, founded in 1954 and based in Senago, Milan. One of the first companies in Italy to build explosion-proof motors, it has been part of the WEG group since 2024. Seven Star LLC supplies these motors in Oman on inquiry.

CEMP motor ranges

The programme listed here includes Ex db flameproof motors in IE3 and IE4 efficiency, flameproof brake motors, small aluminium frame 56 motors and TerraMAX TC series motors for dust, non-sparking and increased safety duty. Frame sizes reach 355 and ratings reach 375 kW, and the brochures list ATEX and IECEx marking for the hazardous zones covered by each series.

Ordering hazardous-area motors

Send the power, poles, voltage and frequency, frame, mounting, gas or dust group, temperature class, zone and ambient conditions, with any brake, encoder or inverter requirement. The brochures give reference values, so the certificate scope and performance data must be confirmed against the exact motor before an order is placed. CEMP also offers special motors to customer specification.
