Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 25B-D1P4N114 0.4 kW AC Drive
Description
The smallest 480 V PowerFlex 525
The Allen-Bradley 25B-D1P4N114 is the smallest 380 to 480 V member of the PowerFlex 525 family: a 0.4 kW (0.5 HP) drive with 1.4 A output current in the compact Frame A. It has the same control module as the largest 22 kW drive, with embedded EtherNet/IP and a built-in Safe Torque Off function, so a metering pump, a small fan or a light conveyor can be integrated into a Logix control system and a machine safety circuit at minimal cost.
The 1 in the emission-class position shows that an integral EMC filter is fitted, which helps meet EN 61800-3 category C2 and C3 requirements without an external filter. At 72 mm wide and 1.1 kg it fits narrow panels, and Frame A drives can be mounted on DIN rail or by screws.

Sizing and protection
At 1.4 A this drive is intended for motors of about 0.4 kW. Rockwell lists the 100-E09 contactor and the 140MT-C3E-B25 manual motor controller as protection devices, with an IEC fuse range of 3 to 6 A. Because the drive input current is only 1.7 to 1.9 A, branch circuit protection must be chosen from the manufacturer table, not from the motor nameplate alone. Heat dissipation is only 27 W, so little panel cooling is needed.
Frame A drives can be zero-stacked up to 45 °C ambient, saving panel width, and the drive tolerates -20 to +50 °C without derating at altitudes to 1000 m.
Catalog code and sibling ratings
Reading the catalog number: 25B is the PowerFlex 525, D is the 380…480V 3-phase supply, the next group is the output current code, N is the IP20 open enclosure, 1 is the standard interface, and the following digit is the emission class: 1 means an integral EMC filter and 0 means no filter. The last digit 4 is the version.
The table lists the 380 to 480 V filtered ratings of the family.

Key features worth knowing
- Embedded EtherNet/IP port for direct connection to Logix controllers, with drive configuration through Studio 5000 or Connected Components Workbench.
- Built-in Safe Torque Off for machine safety circuits without a separate safety contactor for the drive output.
- Removable control module, so the control wiring and configuration can be prepared while the power module is still being installed.
- Multiple motor control modes, including permanent-magnet motor control, from the smallest to the largest rating.
- Normal and heavy duty share the same 0.4 kW rating at this size, so one part covers both duty types.
Commissioning tips
Enter the motor nameplate data (voltage, frequency, current, speed and power) before the first run and perform an autotune where the application allows the motor to be rotated or held at standstill as required by the selected tune. Choose V/Hz for simple fans and pumps or for multiple motors on one drive, and sensorless vector when better torque at low speed is needed. Set acceleration and deceleration times to suit the mechanics; very short deceleration on high-inertia loads raises DC-bus voltage, and this drive size is often used without dynamic braking. The configuration can be saved and copied to identical drives through the network or a USB connection, which speeds up commissioning on machines with several identical axes.
Installation guidance
- Respect the minimum clearances above and below the drive for airflow, and observe the Rockwell side-by-side mounting rules for Frame A.
- Ground the drive and use shielded motor cable to keep the EMC filter effective; on ungrounded (IT) or high-resistance-grounded supplies, the filter jumpers need to be set as described in the user manual.
- Select input protection from the fuse and breaker tables listed for this catalog number.
- Wire the Safe Torque Off terminals according to the safety function design, or keep the factory jumper if STO is not used.
Using the drive in GCC conditions
Panels in Oman and neighbouring countries often run hot, and ambient temperature above the drive’s rated limit requires derating or additional cooling. The 27 W loss of this drive is modest, but in panels with many drives the total heat adds up. In dusty areas use filtered fans or air conditioners and keep filters clean. For water treatment, HVAC, packaging and small process skids, the EtherNet/IP connection simplifies integration into existing Allen-Bradley PLC systems.

About brand
Catalog numbers beginning 1756, 1734, 1746 or 5069 are read at a glance by anyone who maintains Allen-Bradley control panels. The brand, the control hardware name of Rockwell Automation, dates back to 1903 in Milwaukee, USA. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Allen-Bradley PLC and I/O modules, communication adapters and PowerFlex drives for plants in Oman, matching catalog number, series letter and firmware against the manufacturer's documentation.
Allen-Bradley product families listed here
Current controller platforms on this page are ControlLogix, with the 1756-L85E ControlLogix 5580 controller and the 1756-PA72 chassis power supply, and CompactLogix 5380, with the 5069-L320ER and 5069-L340ERM. Distributed I/O is represented by POINT I/O: the 1734-AENTR dual-port EtherNet/IP adapter and the 1734-IB8 digital input module. Allen-Bradley drives listed include the PowerFlex 525 and PowerFlex 755. For installed systems there are SLC 500 parts: the 1746-A10 chassis, 1746-NI16I analog input module, 1747-ASB remote I/O adapter, 1747-KE interface and 1747-M13 memory module.
Where Allen-Bradley hardware is used
ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers run packaged equipment and plant utilities: compressor and pump skids, water and wastewater plants, power distribution, material handling and packaging lines. PowerFlex drives control pumps, fans and conveyors. Many SLC 500 racks are still in service.
Ordering Allen-Bradley modules and drives: what we need
Send the full catalog number, the series letter and, for controllers and communication modules, the firmware revision printed on the side label. Compatibility with an existing project depends on these. For PowerFlex drives, give the complete catalog string, which encodes voltage, current rating, enclosure and options, plus the motor nameplate data. For SLC 500 parts, tell us the rack size and processor so that we can check slot and power supply loading in the manufacturer's manuals. A label photo avoids most mistakes.
