Vortice CA IL 125 Compact Flat In-Line Centrifugal Fan 16251
Description
16251 is the Vortice CA IL 125, a compact, low-profile in-line centrifugal fan for 125 mm ducts. A galvanised steel casing lined with a 10 mm sound-absorbing PE panel houses an external-rotor motor and a backward-curved impeller; three speeds reach 310 m3/h at 350 Pa.
A flat in-line fan for false ceilings and tight service spaces
The CA IL range is aimed at ducts that run through a ceiling void, over a wall or inside a riser where depth is limited. The casing and motor support are galvanised sheet steel lined internally with a 10 mm PE sound-proof panel, and the circular spigots take standard tube with a double-lip rubber seal for air tightness. The booklet describes the product as a compact centrifugal axial aspirator for air expulsion in ventilation ducts.
Installation flexibility is a defined feature: wall, ceiling and false-ceiling positions are all approved, and maintenance is simplified because the motor is fixed to a hinged cover that rotates outward, giving direct access to the motor-fan unit. The terminal box that houses the capacitors is moulded in shock-proof resin with cable cages and glands for IP55 dust and water protection of the box.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Galvanised steel casing with 10 mm PE sound-absorbing lining.
- 125 mm spigots with double-lip rubber seals.
- External-rotor AC motor, ball bearings, backward-curved impeller.
- Three speeds: 160, 250 and 310 m3/h.
- Hinged cover for easy motor access; wall, ceiling and false-ceiling mounting.
- IP 44 overall; insulation class I, so earthing is required.

Selection and ordering guide
CA IL comes in four basic sizes, 100, 125, 150/160 and 200 mm, with plain, Q and QUIET ES variants. The 125 mm model gives 310 m3/h at 350 Pa, the same maximum pressure as the 100 mm unit with more flow, which suits a single small branch such as a washroom or small kitchen. If you need more flow, the CA IL 150 (460 m3/h) or 200 (830 m3/h) keep the same casing concept.
The data sheet publishes three speed points, so choose by the pressure your duct needs: 190 Pa at the lowest speed, 350 Pa at the highest. Do not choose by diameter alone, because a long flexible duct will lose a large share of the available pressure.
Installation and operation notes
As Class I equipment, the fan must be earthed; the data sheet states that grounding is required. The booklet requires professional installation, an omnipolar disconnect and mounting that leaves the hinged cover free to swing open for service.
The unit is for ventilation ducts only; keep intake and outlet ducted, never leave the openings free to the room, and keep the ambient temperature below 40 C.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Bathroom, toilet, small kitchen and store-room extraction in offices, hotels, schools and flats where a quiet, low-profile fan is installed above a ceiling or in a service space.
Because the ambient limit is 40 C, avoid unventilated ceiling voids that can exceed that temperature in summer, which is common in Gulf buildings.
Compatible accessories and related items
Same-family versions: CA IL 125 QUIET ES (16271, 380 m3/h at 700 Pa), CA IL 150 (16254) and CA IL 200 (16256). Use the 3-speed control referenced in the Vortice documentation for the series.
Sizing and maintenance notes
Choose the fan from its curve at the real duct pressure, including grilles, bends, filters and any backdraft damper, rather than from the free-air figure. In false ceilings, leave an access panel large enough to reach the fan and its terminal box, and support the fan so that vibration is not passed into the ceiling. Flexible connectors on both sides help reduce noise in offices, hotel rooms and clinics.
In the region, ceiling voids above air-conditioned spaces can still become hot, especially below roofs, so check the maximum air and ambient temperature for the motor. Clean the impeller during routine maintenance, as dust build-up reduces airflow and increases noise.
