Brand:

Bender iso685-D-P ISOMETER Insulation Monitor 690 V AC

Description

A main-circuit ISOMETER with built-in locating current injector

The Bender iso685-D-P is an insulation monitoring device for unearthed AC main circuits up to 690 V, including systems with galvanically connected rectifiers and inverters, and for unearthed DC systems up to 1000 V. The D in the type means a built-in graphical display; the P version adds an integrated locating current injector, so that together with EDS44x insulation fault locators the faulty feeder can be found while the plant stays in operation. The datasheet describes automatic adaptation to the system leakage capacitance, a combination of the AMPPLUS and other profile-specific measuring methods, and two response value ranges from 1 kOhm to 10 MOhm.

The article number of the iso685-D-P is B91067030. The same datasheet covers the iso685W-D-P (W option, increased shock and vibration resistance and -40 to +70 C operation, B91067030W) and the separate-display versions iso685-S-P with FP200 panel (B91067230).

Profiles, ISOnet and fault location

The iso685 selects a device profile for the type of installation, for example a rectifier-fed DC link, so that the measuring voltage and permissible leakage capacitance match the plant. ISOnet lets several ISOMETERs share interconnected IT systems: each device is internally disconnected from the system when another one is measuring, and ISOnet priority can give one device permanent priority. ISOloop supports ring systems in which all systems are coupled. With the P version, the injected locating current is picked up by EDS440 or EDS441 devices and measuring current transformers, and the iso685 displays the selectively located faults and allows parameter setting of the EDS system.

Selection notes

  • Pick D (display integrated) for door-mounted use; the S version needs the detached FP200 display.
  • Use the W option for increased shock, vibration and moisture stress.
  • Pair with the EDS440-L-4 (B91080202) or EDS441 insulation fault locators, and with W, WR or WS current transformers, for fault location.
  • Supply from AC or DC 24 to 240 V, so one device type covers most control supplies.
  • Check the system leakage capacitance against the profile limit before commissioning.

Typical GCC uses

Offshore and onshore oil and gas, power generation and process plants use unearthed DC and AC systems for UPS, rectifier and drive supplies. Insulation monitoring with fault location reduces the time to find a first earth fault. See the relays category for other Bender monitoring devices on this site.

Selection and installation notes

Insulation and residual current monitoring devices are selected from the system type (IT, TN or TT), the system voltage, the leakage capacitance and the alarm levels needed. Connect the device to the system and to earth as the manual shows, set the response values from the system design, check the coupling or measuring current transformer and its wiring, and test the alarm and relay outputs after commissioning. Do not do an insulation test of the plant with the monitor connected unless the manual allows it.
