Blue-White MS6 SONIC-PRO Ultrasonic Chemical Feed Flow Meter

Description

MS6 is the SONIC-PRO ultrasonic flow meter from Blue-White, made to verify chemical feed in small lines from 10 to 10,000 millilitres per minute (0.158 to 158.5 GPH) at up to 13.8 bar. A PVDF and PEEK body, an isolated 4-20 mA output and a pulse output let it close the loop around a metering pump.

Ultrasonic flow verification for chemical dosing lines

Because the MS6 measures with ultrasound, it has no moving parts or float to foul, and it reads acoustically conductive liquids that contain particulates and bubbles up to 50,000 ppm. The meter comes pre-calibrated with chemical profiles: water, aqueous ammonia 10 percent, ammonium hydroxide 30 percent, ferric chloride 40 percent, sodium bisulfite 40 percent, sodium hypochlorite 12.5 percent, sodium permanganate 40 percent, hydrofluorosilicic acid 25 percent and ammonium sulfate 10 percent, and a custom calibration is possible for other liquids.

Outputs are an isolated, fully configurable 4-20 mA signal, a 0 to 1,000 Hz pulse output and one solid-state relay (24 VDC, 100 mA) that can be set on flow rate or on a flow total for timed batch operation. The meter is set up from a PC with the free Blue-Central software over USB-C, which also gives real-time rate, total and diagnostics and allows field firmware upgrades.

Selection and ordering guide

The model code is MS6 [flow range] [display] [O-ring] X: range 1 covers 10-5,000 mL/min and range 2 covers 100-10,000 mL/min; the display digit 2 is the meter-mounted display; O-ring V is TFE/P and E is EP. The sample MS6-1-2-V-X is printed on the sheet. The datasheet notes that the remote-mount display option was discontinued on 1 January 2026.

Select the range so that normal dosing flow lies inside the accuracy curve; the datasheet curves show indicated against actual flow for 12.5 percent sodium hypochlorite, 25 percent fluorosilicic acid and sodium permanganate.

Installation and operation notes

Install the meter inline in a full pipe using the fittings that match your tubing; the true unions allow removal for maintenance. The temperature-versus-pressure graph in the sheet limits working pressure to 200 psi at about 70 F with derating at higher fluid temperature, so check it for warm fluids.

Connect the supplied transformer for power, connect the 4-20 mA and pulse outputs to the controller using the wiring section of the manual, and use Blue-Central to select the chemical profile, units and rate averaging. Custom chemical calibration is described in the manual for liquids not in the profile list.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Verification of chemical feed is valuable in desalination and municipal treatment where under-dosing of hypochlorite, bisulfite, ferric chloride or fluoride must be detected. A metering pump with a 4-20 mA input can be paced from the pulse or analogue signal, and the relay can trigger alarms or batch feeds.

The operating ambient limit of 104 F (40 C) printed on the datasheet is lower than the pumps, so in hot Gulf plant rooms keep the meter electronics shaded and ventilated.

Compatible accessories and related items

The datasheet points to the Blue-White metering pumps (FLEXFLO and CHEM-FEED) and listed accessories such as tubing and injection fittings on the accessory pages; the MS6 can also be used with the variable area meters F-440 and F-550 for local reading.

About brand

Blue-White Industries is an American maker of metering pumps, flowmeters and water treatment accessories, based in Huntington Beach, California. It was founded in 1957 by Ozzie King, a pool builder and inventor who switched King Blue-White Pools from building pools to manufacturing; his F-300 series flowmeters became a pool industry standard. Today Blue-White makes peristaltic and diaphragm metering pumps for municipal and industrial water treatment.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Blue-White pumps and flow meters, with the official technical data sheet attached to each product page, for water treatment and process projects in Oman and the GCC.
