Brand: Camlok
Camlok THK Thin Sheet Horizontal Plate Clamp, 750-9000 kg
Description
A reverse-jaw clamp for thin sheet that sags in the lift
The Camlok THK shares the basic design of the CH horizontal clamps but has a reversed tooth jaw. Camlok describes this as a safety feature for thin sheets that deflect, sag or flex: as the sheet bends under its own weight, the jaw grips harder. The clamps are used in pairs with a two-leg chain sling, and two pairs are recommended on longer plates.
Six sizes are listed, THK750 to THK9000, with a per-pair working load limit from 40 up to 9000 kg and jaw capacities of 0 to 25 mm up to 0 to 60 mm. The sling angle from the vertical must never exceed 30 degrees, and shackles are not included.
Points from the product page and datasheet

Selecting a size by plate thickness and load
The jaw capacity runs from zero, so thin sheet is covered by every size; the real limit is load. Both the THK750 and the THK1500 are very light at 3 and 6 kg per pair, while the THK9000 weighs 35 kg per pair (derived: the catalogue gives weight per pair). Choose the size with a WLL range that brackets the sheet weight, because each clamp has a minimum WLL marked on it that must not be undercut.
One discrepancy to note: the operating manual prints 75 to 500 kg for the THK1500, while the catalogue sheet and the model name say 75 to 1500 kg. The catalogue value is used here, and the figure marked on the clamp should be confirmed on order. Order shackles separately for the chain sling.
Handling thin sheet with THK clamps
The manual asks for sheet free of grease, oil, scale and coating. For a single pair, the clamps go on opposite edges in line with the centre of gravity with the sling slack; for long sheet use two pairs under a lifting beam. Endless chain slings and four-leg slings are ruled out, and round plates need three or more clamps to stop them tilting.
During the lift keep the sling within 30 degrees of vertical and any sideways pull under 15 degrees. Move slowly, keep slings vertical, stay clear of the load and put it down only when the whole weight is supported. If the sheet leans over by more than 5 degrees, reposition the clamps. The manual maintenance table covers smooth operation, weld cracks, shell plates, teeth cleaning, soft-grease lubrication, fasteners, jaw bolt and internal links, jaw wear and the locking cam handle; fasteners are held with Loctite 270 unless a nylon nut is fitted.
Thin plate and sheet handling
THK clamps are chosen where a sheet would sag between two ordinary clamps: cladding sheet, light plate, profiled panels and thin steel in cutting shops. Serrated teeth mark the sheet, so for polished or sensitive surfaces the LJ is the alternative. The manual asks the user to contact the supplier before use in humid, salty, caustic, alkaline, cold or hot conditions.
Selection and installation notes
Lifting clamps and grabs must be selected from the working load limit, the thickness and size of the load and the lifting angle, and used only by trained people under the site lifting procedure. Check the working load limit and the range on the marking, inspect the clamp before each use, never exceed the rated load or the stated angle, keep people away from the load and follow the periodic examination rules of the country where it is used. Damaged or worn clamps are taken out of service.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Related items
The product page lists the CH horizontal clamp, TTG girder stacking clamp, THS loading horizontal clamp, ACH adjustable horizontal clamp and RH/WH horizontal clamps as related products. A brochure, a product sheet and the manual are available from the maker. Shackles and chain slings are separate purchases.
Frequently asked questions
How is the THK rated?
Per pair, from 40 to 750 kg on the THK750 up to 450 to 9000 kg on the THK9000.
Why a reversed jaw?
Camlok says the reversed tooth design increases grip as the plate deflects, which helps with thin sheets that sag or flex.
What is the maximum sling angle?
30 degrees from the vertical; the manual also forbids lateral tensile forces above 15 degrees.
Can I use four-leg slings?
No. The manual says not to use endless chain slings or four-leg slings.
Are shackles included?
No, the product page and datasheet say shackles are not included.
Documents and quotation
The catalogue sheet and the THK manual are provided here. Because of the THK1500 figure noted above, ask for the marked capacity of the actual clamp before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat, and availability is confirmed per request.

About brand
Camlok is a brand of below-the-hook lifting clamps of Columbus McKinnon, supplied from Chester in the United Kingdom. The range covers vertical and horizontal plate clamps, girder clamps, grabs, beam clamps and concrete pipe lifting gear.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Camlok clamps with the official datasheets and manuals for fabrication shops, steel stockholders and construction sites in Oman and the GCC.
Camlok product series
Vertical plate clamps include the CY hinged clamp for 1000 to 3000 kg and the heavy-duty CX hinged clamp for 150 to 10,000 kg, which lift and turn plate. The LJ clamp has leather or rubber pads for non-marking lifts. Horizontal clamps include the CH clamps used in pairs for 1000 to 20,000 kg and the THK clamp for thin sheet.
Other lifting gear includes the CG girder turning clamp, the TTR girder stacking clamp, the TRU round stock grab for pipe and bar, the SC92 beam clamp that provides a suspension point on a beam flange and the BTG clamp set for concrete pipe. Many Camlok clamps are designed with a 4:1 safety factor.
Where Camlok clamps are used
Plate handling in fabrication shops, shipyards and steel stores, girder erection and stacking, pipe and bar handling and laying concrete pipe on civil works.
Ordering Camlok clamps: what we need
Send the clamp type and working load limit, the jaw opening or plate thickness range, the material and surface (including hardness for plate), and the lifting direction. Each family is published with an operating manual listing working load limits, jaw capacities and inspection rules.
