Paxton 010-052 Paxton10 Single-Door Controller with PoE+
Description
010-052 is the Paxton10 single-door controller with a built-in PoE+ power supply. It controls one door with two reader ports, a powered lock output and two relays, and is powered and networked through one Ethernet cable.
A door controller that needs no mains supply at the door
Paxton10 door controllers are the building blocks of the Paxton10 access control and video management system. The PoE+ version has a built-in splitter, so both the controller and the door lock can run from PoE+, and the product page says this removes the need for a 230 V connection at the door. Programming is stored locally, so the controller keeps working if the connection to the server is lost.
Each controller provides a connector port that can cascade up to three Paxton10 Wireless Connectors, and a single Paxton10 system can include up to 1000 door controllers. Paxton recommends a PoE+-enabled network switch.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- PoE+ input per IEEE 802.3at Type 2 with a 12.8 V DC 1.8 A output; 5 year Paxton warranty.
- Lock output 12 V DC at 1 A or 24 V DC at 500 mA.
- Two relays rated 30 V DC / 2 A, one volt-free digital input, door contact, tamper and exit button inputs.
- Two reader ports; reader output 12 V DC at 1 A for Paxton readers.

PoE, PSU or PCB-only: which 010 code
The Gen2 datasheet lists four codes. Choose 010-052 where a PoE+ switch is available and no mains is at the door, 010-751 where a 12 V 2 A supply is preferred, 010-315 for the controller in a plastic housing, and 010-403 for the bare board in an existing cabinet. The product page notes that Paxton10 PoE controllers exist in first and second generation versions with separate datasheets; confirm which generation and code you need.
A PoE+ switch port must supply enough power for the controller, lock and readers, so check the switch budget. Confirm the full controller, reader and server set with us before ordering.
Cabling and set-up
The wiring label on the controller shows colour-coded connections for readers, power and lock, and diagnostic LEDs show the status of the controller, inputs and outputs. The 12 V lock output can control a door, barrier or gate. Controllers connect straight to the network by TCP/IP and appear automatically in the Paxton10 software under devices.
The datasheet gives an operating range of 0 to 45 °C, so mount the unit indoors in a ventilated electrical room, not in a hot roof space or outdoor box.
Where it is used
The PoE+ controller suits retrofit doors in offices, schools, clinics, hotels and residential blocks, where running a mains feed to each door would be costly. The relays and digital input can also serve gates, barriers and simple alarm interfaces.
Selection and installation notes
Access control is designed door by door: the door type, the lock, the reader position, the exit method and the fire release all need to be settled before the equipment is chosen. Fit the unit on the secure side where the maker advises, run cable of the type and length the data sheet allows, test the lock release on power failure and fire alarm, and keep a record of the user and token set-up. Check local fire and security rules before commissioning.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Related Paxton items
The product page lists the Paxton10 server and the Paxton10 slimline reader (010-296) as companions, and mentions the Paxton10 alarm connector for an intruder alarm. See the category.
Frequently asked questions
How is the PoE version powered?
From a PoE+ switch, IEEE 802.3at Type 2, through a built-in splitter that also powers the lock.
How many readers per door?
Up to two readers or keypads, for read-in and read-out.
What lock output is available?
12 V DC at 1 A or 24 V DC at 500 mA.
Does it work if the server is down?
