Allen-Bradley 25B-D2P3N114 PowerFlex 525 0.75 kW (1 Hp) AC Drive
Description
The filtered version of the 0.75 kW PowerFlex 525
The Allen-Bradley 25B-D2P3N114 is the PowerFlex 525 frame A drive for 1 Hp (0.75 kW) motors on a 380 to 480V three-phase supply, supplied with the integral EMC filter. Output current is 2.3 A, and the drive keeps the embedded EtherNet/IP port and Safe Torque Off of the 525 range.
The filter is the point of this variant. Rockwell states that integral filtering helps meet EN 61800-3 Category C2 and C3 emission requirements, so the drive is often chosen when the machine must be CE marked without a separate filter box.

Catalog number breakdown for 25B-D2P3N114
25B means PowerFlex 525, D is 480V AC three-phase, 2P3 is 2.3 A, and N is the IP20 Open Type enclosure. In the last group, the first 1 is the standard interface, the second 1 is emission class with filter, and 4 is standard braking.
The lookalike 25B-D2P3N104 shares every rating but has no filter. Order the exact suffix, because the filter cannot be added to the unfiltered drive by changing the number.
In operation the drive offers four independent accel and decel times of 0 to 600 seconds, output frequency up to 500 Hz and a typical efficiency of 97.5%. Sound pressure at 1 m is 53 dBA at most for frame A, and the drive can run without derating to 1000 m altitude.
Emission limits and cable length
The technical data lists the internal filter limits as EN 61800-3 Category C2 with 10 m of motor cable and Category C3 with 20 m. External filters allow much longer cable runs, up to 150 m, but they are separate parts.
Losses are 37 W, the same figure as the unfiltered drive, and input is 2.9 kVA at 3.2 A maximum. Fuse, contactor and breaker recommendations are 10 A, 100-C09 or 100-E09 and 140MT-C3E-B40.
Ambient limits for the open-type drive are 50 °C when mounted vertically and 45 °C when drives are mounted side by side with zero stacking.
Key features of the 25B-D2P3N114
- Integral EMC filter fitted at the factory, avoiding a separate filter enclosure and its extra wiring in small panels.
- Embedded EtherNet/IP port for direct connection to a Logix controller, with the drive configured through Connected Components Workbench or Studio 5000 profiles.
- Safe Torque Off built in, certified to ISO 13849-1 SIL 2 / PLd, which can remove the need for a separate safety contactor in many machine safety designs.
- Several motor control modes, from simple volts per hertz for fans to closed loop vector and permanent magnet motor control.
- Compact frame A footprint of 72 mm width, suited to crowded control cabinets on packaging lines, conveyors and small pumps.
- Same normal-duty and heavy-duty rating of 0.75 kW, so the drive can handle a short 150% overload without upsizing.
Filtered or unfiltered: making the choice
The filtered drive is the right choice when the machine will be installed in a residential or light-industrial environment, when the end customer specifies EN 61800-3 compliance, or when the motor cable is short enough to stay within the 10 m (C2) or 20 m (C3) limits stated for the internal filter. The unfiltered 25B-D2P3N104 is normally used where the supply is an industrial network with its own filtering, where several drives share an external filter, or where the motor cable is longer than the internal filter allows.
One practical point concerns earthing. An EMC filter connects capacitors to ground, which can raise leakage current. On ungrounded or high-resistance grounded supplies the user manual describes how to disconnect the filter and MOV jumpers; check this before connecting the drive to such a network.
Panel installation and commissioning tips
- Mount the drive vertically on a metal back plate and respect the 50 °C limit for single mounting or 45 °C for zero-stacked drives.
- Use shielded motor cable and terminate the shield at both the drive and the motor with a 360-degree clamp to keep the filter effective.
- Route power and control cables separately and keep the EtherNet/IP cable away from the motor leads.
- Enter the motor nameplate data, then run the auto-tune routine before selecting vector or PM control modes.
- The removable control module allows the drive to be configured with power applied only to the control section, which simplifies pre-programming in the workshop.
Operating in hot GCC plant rooms
Many control panels in Oman and the wider Gulf sit in plant rooms or outdoor kiosks where the air temperature approaches the limits listed above. Because the open-type drive is rated IP20, it needs a ventilated or air-conditioned enclosure that keeps the internal temperature within range and keeps out dust. Allow for the 37 W loss per drive when sizing the panel cooler, and add the losses of other equipment in the same cabinet. Above 1000 m altitude derating applies, although most coastal sites in the region are well below that level.

About brand
Catalog numbers beginning 1756, 1734, 1746 or 5069 are read at a glance by anyone who maintains Allen-Bradley control panels. The brand, the control hardware name of Rockwell Automation, dates back to 1903 in Milwaukee, USA. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Allen-Bradley PLC and I/O modules, communication adapters and PowerFlex drives for plants in Oman, matching catalog number, series letter and firmware against the manufacturer's documentation.
Allen-Bradley product families listed here
Current controller platforms on this page are ControlLogix, with the 1756-L85E ControlLogix 5580 controller and the 1756-PA72 chassis power supply, and CompactLogix 5380, with the 5069-L320ER and 5069-L340ERM. Distributed I/O is represented by POINT I/O: the 1734-AENTR dual-port EtherNet/IP adapter and the 1734-IB8 digital input module. Allen-Bradley drives listed include the PowerFlex 525 and PowerFlex 755. For installed systems there are SLC 500 parts: the 1746-A10 chassis, 1746-NI16I analog input module, 1747-ASB remote I/O adapter, 1747-KE interface and 1747-M13 memory module.
Where Allen-Bradley hardware is used
ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers run packaged equipment and plant utilities: compressor and pump skids, water and wastewater plants, power distribution, material handling and packaging lines. PowerFlex drives control pumps, fans and conveyors. Many SLC 500 racks are still in service.
Ordering Allen-Bradley modules and drives: what we need
Send the full catalog number, the series letter and, for controllers and communication modules, the firmware revision printed on the side label. Compatibility with an existing project depends on these. For PowerFlex drives, give the complete catalog string, which encodes voltage, current rating, enclosure and options, plus the motor nameplate data. For SLC 500 parts, tell us the rack size and processor so that we can check slot and power supply loading in the manufacturer's manuals. A label photo avoids most mistakes.
