Allen-Bradley 25B-D2P3N104 PowerFlex 525 0.75 kW (1 Hp) AC Drive
Description
A 0.75 kW PowerFlex 525 drive for small three-phase motors
The Allen-Bradley 25B-D2P3N104 is a PowerFlex 525 AC drive rated 1 Hp (0.75 kW) at 380 to 480V AC, three-phase, with 2.3 A of output current. The technical data gives the same 1 Hp (0.75 kW) figure for normal duty and heavy duty, so one catalog number covers both duty descriptions.
The PowerFlex 525 adds an embedded EtherNet/IP port and Safe Torque Off to the basic 523 platform. This version has no integral EMC filter, which suits panels that already use a line filter or machines where emission class is handled elsewhere.

Reading the catalog number 25B-D2P3N104
Each position in 25B-D2P3N104 has a meaning. 25B is the PowerFlex 525 family, D is a 480V AC three-phase supply, 2P3 is the 2.3 A output rating, and N is the IP20 NEMA / Open Type enclosure. The following 1 selects the standard interface module, the 0 means no EMC filter, and the final 4 is the standard braking option.
Changing the 0 to a 1 gives 25B-D2P3N114, the same 2.3 A frame A drive with the integral filter; the two are separate orderable products with slightly different loss figures.
Control wiring is flexible for a drive this small. The technical data lists six programmable digital inputs plus a dedicated stop input, two analog inputs, two relay outputs and two optocoupler outputs, and an encoder input with a 12V, 250 mA supply for closed loop velocity vector control. A vertical, open-type mounting is rated to 50 °C without derating.
Protection, sizing and installation
For UL 61800-5-1 applications the technical data recommends Class CC, J or T fuses of 10 A, a 100-C09 or 100-E09 contactor and a 140MT-C3E-B40 circuit breaker. Under IEC rules the fuse range is 6 A minimum to 10 A maximum. The input rating is 2.9 kVA and 3.2 A at the top of the voltage range.
Frame A measures 72 mm wide, 152 mm high and 172 mm deep and weighs 1.1 kg, with DIN rail or screw mounting. Total losses are 37 W, so heat in the cabinet is modest.
Installing the 25B-D2P3N104 in a control panel
Mount the frame A drive vertically on a DIN rail or back plate, with clear space above and below so that air can move through the heat sink. Group it with other low-power devices rather than directly above a larger drive or transformer whose warm exhaust would raise the inlet temperature. Because this catalog number has no integral EMC filter, plan the earthing and cable routing with care: use a shielded motor cable, bond the shield at both ends with suitable clamps, keep the motor leads separated from control and network cables, and fit an external line filter where the installation standard for the site calls for one.
Connect the protective earth before any other terminal, size the supply cable and protection according to the recommendations already listed above, and tighten terminals to the torque given in the Rockwell installation instructions. If the drive will use Safe Torque Off, wire the safety inputs to the safety relay or controller as described in the user manual and remove the factory jumper only when that circuit is in place.
First start-up and parameter setup
On first power-up, enter the motor nameplate data before anything else: rated voltage, current, frequency, speed and power. Choose the control method that suits the load, set the acceleration and deceleration times, and define the start source and speed reference, whether from terminals, the keypad or EtherNet/IP. Run an autotune where the control mode needs it, with the motor uncoupled if the procedure requires that. Check the direction of rotation at low speed before coupling the machine, and save a copy of the final parameter set with Connected Components Workbench or a similar tool so that a replacement drive can be loaded quickly.
Operating conditions in Oman and the GCC
Control panels in Omani and Gulf plants frequently sit in hot plant rooms or outdoors under the sun, and the IP20 open-type drive depends entirely on the enclosure for protection. Size the panel cooling for the summer peak, not for an average day, and include the heat from every device in the panel together with the losses of this drive. Filtered fans need their filters changed often in sandy locations, otherwise airflow drops and the drive temperature rises. Where an air conditioner is used, watch for condensation when cold air meets humid coastal conditions, and keep the drive away from the conditioner outlet.
Maintenance and fault prevention
During planned shutdowns, isolate the supply, wait for the DC bus to discharge as described in the manual, and then inspect the drive. Remove dust from the heat sink and fan path with a vacuum or dry, clean air, retighten power terminals, and look for discoloured insulation that would indicate a loose joint. Review the fault log in the drive; repeated overcurrent or overvoltage trips usually point to the application, such as a ramp time that is too short or a load that regenerates energy, rather than to the drive itself.
Quotation checklist
Send the full 25B-D2P3N104 reference, the motor nameplate, the supply voltage and whether a keypad, conduit box or external filter is needed. Confirm the exact catalog number, firmware series and lead time before ordering. Related drive products are shown in AC Drives and PowerFlex 525 AC drive.

About brand
Catalog numbers beginning 1756, 1734, 1746 or 5069 are read at a glance by anyone who maintains Allen-Bradley control panels. The brand, the control hardware name of Rockwell Automation, dates back to 1903 in Milwaukee, USA. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Allen-Bradley PLC and I/O modules, communication adapters and PowerFlex drives for plants in Oman, matching catalog number, series letter and firmware against the manufacturer's documentation.
Allen-Bradley product families listed here
Current controller platforms on this page are ControlLogix, with the 1756-L85E ControlLogix 5580 controller and the 1756-PA72 chassis power supply, and CompactLogix 5380, with the 5069-L320ER and 5069-L340ERM. Distributed I/O is represented by POINT I/O: the 1734-AENTR dual-port EtherNet/IP adapter and the 1734-IB8 digital input module. Allen-Bradley drives listed include the PowerFlex 525 and PowerFlex 755. For installed systems there are SLC 500 parts: the 1746-A10 chassis, 1746-NI16I analog input module, 1747-ASB remote I/O adapter, 1747-KE interface and 1747-M13 memory module.
Where Allen-Bradley hardware is used
ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers run packaged equipment and plant utilities: compressor and pump skids, water and wastewater plants, power distribution, material handling and packaging lines. PowerFlex drives control pumps, fans and conveyors. Many SLC 500 racks are still in service.
Ordering Allen-Bradley modules and drives: what we need
Send the full catalog number, the series letter and, for controllers and communication modules, the firmware revision printed on the side label. Compatibility with an existing project depends on these. For PowerFlex drives, give the complete catalog string, which encodes voltage, current rating, enclosure and options, plus the motor nameplate data. For SLC 500 parts, tell us the rack size and processor so that we can check slot and power supply loading in the manufacturer's manuals. A label photo avoids most mistakes.
