Danfoss 132F0012 VLT Micro Drive FC 51, 1.5 kW, 3 x 200-240 V

Description

A 1.5 kW three-phase 200-240 V VLT Micro Drive with built-in brake chopper

Danfoss order number 132F0012 is the type FC-051P1K5T2E20H3BXCXXXSXXX, a VLT Micro Drive FC 51 rated 1.5 kW (2 hp) for a three-phase 200-240 V supply. A 200-240 V three-phase input is typical of imported machinery, packaged units and some marine or IT-type networks, so this variant is mostly ordered as an exact replacement for a drive that is already installed. It sits in frame M2 and, unlike the 0.75 kW sizes, it includes a brake chopper, which lets you connect an external brake resistor on hoists, centrifuges and fast-stopping conveyors.

The integrated RFI filter (type-code letters H3) targets class A1/B, category C1, with a reduced motor cable length. The circuit board is conformal coated and the unit is supplied without a local control panel.

Selection and installation

Check the nameplate voltage first: a drive meant for 380-480 V cannot replace this one, and the single-phase 1.5 kW unit (132F0005) is a different order number. The control card offers five digital inputs, two analog inputs, a 0/4-20 mA output, one relay and RS-485 with FC protocol and Modbus RTU. The design guide gives a maximum of 40 °C ambient at full output and a 15 m screened motor cable limit, and lists a line filter MCC 107 (130B2526) for this code. Accessories for the M2 frame include the IP21 kit 132B0109 and the type 1 kit 132B0104.

If a brake resistor is fitted, size it from the application duty rather than from the drive rating alone; the Danfoss brake resistor design guide covers this. On Danfoss’s store this code is marked with a last time buy of June 30, 2026 and a last delivery of September 30, 2026, plus an upgrade notice; both dates have passed, so availability is something we must confirm for you.

Key features of this FC 51 variant

  • 1.5 kW three-phase 200-240 V rating in the compact M2 frame, only 75 mm wide for dense DIN-rail or back-plate layouts.
  • Built-in brake chopper for an external brake resistor, which the smallest Micro Drive sizes do not offer.
  • Integrated RFI filter aimed at category C1 with a reduced motor cable length.
  • Conformal-coated circuit board for better resistance to humidity and airborne contaminants.
  • 150% overload for one minute, giving 10.2 A intermittent output for starting loaded machines.
  • Typical efficiency of 97.2%, so only about 57 W of heat has to be removed from the panel at full load.

Operating without a local control panel

The 132F0012 is supplied without the local control panel (LCP). In many OEM machines the drive is controlled entirely through terminals or serial communication and the parameters are loaded once at the factory, so no keypad is needed. For commissioning, adjustment or fault reading on site, a separately ordered LCP can be plugged into the drive, or the parameters can be set with Danfoss PC software. If you are replacing an existing drive, check whether the old unit had a keypad and whether a parameter copy is available.

Using the brake chopper

When a motor is decelerated quickly or driven by an overhauling load, it acts as a generator and pushes energy back into the DC link. Without a brake chopper the drive extends the ramp time or trips on overvoltage. With the chopper, the excess energy is dumped into an external resistor. The resistor must have a resistance no lower than the minimum value in the FC 51 design guide for this size, and its power rating must suit the duty cycle; undersized resistors overheat. Mount the resistor where its heat does not affect other components.

Installation guidance

  • Confirm the supply is three-phase 200-240 V; this drive is not suited for 380-415 V networks, which need a T4 variant.
  • Use screened motor cable within the length limit for the RFI class, and fit the decoupling plate to clamp the screen.
  • Leave the clearance above and below the drive specified in the design guide for cooling air.
  • Protect the input with fuses or a circuit breaker as listed by Danfoss for this rating.
  • Set motor nameplate data in the drive and run an automatic motor adaptation where applicable.

Considerations for Oman and the GCC

The IP20 chassis must be installed in an enclosure. Panel temperatures climb fast in summer, and drive output capacity reduces when the ambient exceeds the rated value, so ventilation or cooling of the cabinet should be designed with the drive’s heat loss and the hottest expected day in mind. The coated PCB helps in humid coastal locations such as Muscat, Sohar and Duqm, but dust filters on cabinet fans still need regular cleaning.

What to include in your RFQ

  • Order number 132F0012 and quantity.
  • Whether an LCP keypad, brake resistor or other accessories are needed.
  • Motor nameplate data and application, especially for braking duty.
  • For replacements, the full type code from the existing drive label.

About brand

From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.

Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.

Danfoss product families on this page

Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.

Where Danfoss equipment is used

District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.

Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need

Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
