Danfoss 132F0058 VLT Micro Drive FC 51 11 kW 380-480 V Frequency Converter

Description

An 11 kW drive that steps up to the M4 frame

132F0058 is the Danfoss VLT Micro Drive FC 51 rated 11 kW (15 hp), three-phase 380-480 V, model code FC-051P11KT4E20H3BXCXXXSXXX. It is the first FC 51 in the larger M4 frame, with a 125 mm wide, 292 mm high enclosure, and it delivers 23.0 A continuous at 380-440 V. For maintenance teams this is the code that replaces an installed 11 kW Micro Drive on a pump, fan or conveyor while keeping the familiar FC 51 control terminals: 5 digital inputs, 2 analog inputs, 1 analog output, a relay output and an RS485 port.

M4 frame installation notes for the 11 kW rating

The M4 frame is 241 mm deep and the mains, motor and brake terminals use a tightening torque of 1.3 Nm, higher than the 0.8 Nm and 0.7 Nm of the M1 to M3 frames. The M4 does not have a Danfoss IP21 kit but a Type 1 kit (132B0120) and a decoupling plate (132B0122) are listed. Non-UL fuse protection is 63 A gG, or Bussmann KTS-R60. The Design Guide gives 290.0 W best-case and 342.0 W typical power loss, so a panel needs adequate ventilation. No MCC 107 line filter is listed in the Design Guide ordering table for this rating.

At 290.0 W best-case and 342.0 W typical loss, an 11 kW drive rejects about 3 percent of its rating as heat, so a cabinet with several M4 units needs forced ventilation. Efficiency is 97.8 percent best case and 97.4 percent typical. The 292 mm by 125 mm by 241 mm housing has mounting hole spacing of 272.4 mm by 97 mm. Supply terminals take 4 mm2 at 1.3 Nm. The calculated gross weight is 6.3 kg, so use appropriate fixings. Compared with the 7.5 kW unit the continuous output current rises from 15.5 A to 23.0 A at 380-440 V, which is why the frame steps up from M3 to M4.

Ordering number, accessories and availability

FC-051P11KT4E20H3BXCXXXSXXX carries P11K for 11 kW; the next ratings in the same string differ only in the power field. For the M4 frame the Design Guide lists a Type 1 kit 132B0120 and a decoupling plate 132B0122; no IP21 kit is listed for this frame. The Design Guide ordering table pairs no MCC 107 line filter with this number. Danfoss’s store page flags last time buy (30 June 2026), last time delivery (30 September 2026) and an upgrade to the iC2-Micro. Confirm availability and the replacement before you order. Control features of the FC 51 at this rating

The FC 51 offers VVC+ voltage vector control for good torque at low speed and a simple U/f mode for multi-motor or special applications. A built-in process PI controller allows a pump or fan to hold pressure, flow or level directly from a 4–20 mA transmitter connected to an analog input, without a separate PLC loop. The built-in brake chopper at this size means an external braking resistor can be connected for loads that regenerate energy, such as conveyors that decelerate quickly or fans with high inertia. Automatic energy optimisation reduces motor magnetisation at part load, which is useful on variable-torque applications.

Local control panel and copying parameters

The removable local control panel (LCP 11 without potentiometer, LCP 12 with potentiometer) can be used to copy parameter sets from one drive to another. When replacing an older 11 kW FC 51, reading the parameter set from the existing unit before removal saves considerable commissioning time.

Replacement planning

Danfoss has announced last-time-buy and last-time-delivery dates for this product and lists the iC2-Micro as the upgrade path. For plants that standardise on FC 51 drives, ordering a spare 132F0058 now keeps the installed base uniform. For new projects, compare the iC2-Micro footprint, terminal layout and parameter structure before deciding, because control wiring and set-up will not be identical.

Installation in Gulf conditions

  • The IP20 chassis is intended for mounting inside a cabinet. Plan cabinet ventilation for around 342 W typical loss per drive, plus the losses of other components.
  • High ambient temperatures in summer require derating according to the Design Guide; keep panel air temperatures under control with filtered fans or air-conditioning.
  • Dust filters on cabinet fans must be cleaned regularly in desert locations, or cooling capacity drops quickly.
  • Use screened motor cable and the decoupling plate to keep EMC performance within the C1 class of the built-in filter.

Typical applications

At 11 kW the drive is commonly applied to chilled-water and condenser pumps, cooling-tower fans, supply and extract fans, borehole and transfer pumps and conveyors in material handling.

About brand

From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.

Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.

Danfoss product families on this page

Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.

Where Danfoss equipment is used

District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.

Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need

Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
