The coupling type follows the drive. Flexible couplings with rubber elements, such as N-EUPEX and RUPEX, absorb shock and small misalignment and are easy to service because only the elements wear. All-steel disc couplings such as N-ARPEX need no lubrication and suit high speeds. Gear couplings carry the highest torque for their size but need grease.
