Hilti DX 351-BTG Powder-Actuated Tool for X-BT Studs

The Hilti DX 351-BTG is a fully automatic, compact powder-actuated tool for driving X-BT threaded studs into coated steel without through-penetration. Hilti lists it for fastening threaded X-BT grating studs to steel substrates at least 8 mm thick, which leaves the steel corrosion protection intact. The tool belongs to the DX 351 BT platform, and the product page kit uses the BTG fastener guide and piston.

Stud fastening to coated steel where drilling and welding are undesirable

Hilti describes a quicker and more reliable fastening solution that eliminates steel base-material finishing, with total mobility and no electrical supply, and virtually no reworking because the corrosion protection remains intact. Applications listed are fastening to coated steel in corrosive environments with M8 threaded studs, light-duty electrical fastening such as cables, conduit connectors and cable trays, junction boxes, lighting and switch boards, and light-duty mechanical fastening such as pipe hangers and struts. The operating instructions describe a system application with TS-BT stepped drill bits and a Hilti-recommended drill driver.

Safety and compatibility notes

The manual states that fastener guides, pistons and fasteners must be compatible with one another and that only cartridges meeting local minimum safety requirements may be used, with cartridge conformity rules listed for EFTA countries, the UK, the USA, non-European C.I.P. member states and other countries. Regular cleaning by Hilti service and maintenance intervals are required. The product page shows Bluetooth and Hilti Connect as not available on this model.
