Brand:

ComAp InteliMains 1010 Mains and Bus-Tie Breaker Controller

Description

Utility-side supervision for the most complex switchgear

The ComAp InteliMains 1010 is the most advanced mains, utility and tie-breaker supervision controller in the ComAp range. It acts as a mains protection relay and helps synchronise gen-sets to the utility, which makes it the controller for data centres, hospitals, banks and other critical installations where the mains and the generators must work as one system.

It works with ComAp generator controllers over CAN FD, allowing up to 64 gen-sets, mains and tie controllers to cooperate. The accuracy of its AC measurement lets it take part in primary frequency control, grid balancing and demand-response projects. It is designed to ISA 62443 level 2 to 3 security requirements, and supports grid codes including EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4110 and 4105, G99, TOR and IEEE 1547.

Load transfer and protection

Several load-transfer options are available, including transfers in under 100 ms, and a CAN bus logger with event-based history speeds troubleshooting. Remote connection uses AirGate 2.0 and the WebSupervisor cloud tool, a large in-built PLC interpreter takes user-defined protections and parameters, and extension is by plug-in modules, CAN modules and software keys. The ANSI function list covers mains fail detection and load shedding, vector shift, ROCOF, export power, synchronising check, regulating device and over and under frequency and voltage protections.

Choosing against the InteliMains 510

The 1010 is aimed at complex multi-set systems with redundancy options. For switchgear with fewer controllers and a colour display on the door, look at the InteliMains 510. Confirm your VT ratio, since nominal inputs of 115 V and 230 V L-N are available, and check hardware version for the plug-in modules, which are supported from controller HW 01.01.xx or PCB type 7 and higher. Four remote displays are listed for the door or a separate panel, from a 5 inch InteliVision to a 13.3 inch marine certified unit.

How the ComAp IM31010XBBB works

The controller measures the mains on one side and the bus on the other. It compares voltage, frequency and phase between them. When the two sides match, it closes the breaker between them. If the mains fail or leave the set limits, it opens the breaker and lets the generators carry the load.

Where the IM31010XBBB is used

  • Data centres
  • Hospitals and banks
  • Plants with several gen-sets and a utility supply
  • Bus-tie breaker control in large switchgear
  • Sites with grid code requirements

Selection checklist for the IM31010XBBB

  • Mains breaker or bus-tie duty
  • Number of gen-sets on the CAN FD link
  • Voltage and current input ratings
  • Binary and analogue input count
  • Plug-in modules needed
  • Remote display model
  • Extended features such as Modbus Client
  • Supply voltage of the panel

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the IM31010XBBB

Mount the controller in the switchgear door or panel. Wire the voltage inputs to the mains and the bus and the current inputs to the matching transformers. Connect the CAN FD link to the gen-set controllers. Set the grid code and the limits, then test the transfer in both directions.

About brand

ComAp is a Czech manufacturer of control systems for gen-sets and other power generation equipment, founded by three friends in 1991 and headquartered in Prague. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes ComAp InteliLite, InteliGen and InteliSys controllers for standby generators, paralleling plants and gas gen-set projects.

ComAp gen-set controllers

The ComAp range covers single gen-set controllers such as InteliLite 4, paralleling controllers such as InteliGen and InteliSys, engine controllers, microgrid and battery storage controllers, remote displays, communication modules and the WebSupervisor monitoring tool.
