Brand: Hilti
Hilti SC 6ML-22 Cordless Circular Saw for Metal
Description
The Hilti SC 6ML-22 is a cordless cold-cutting circular saw for metal, with a 60 mm maximum cutting depth and a no-load speed of 4,000 rpm. It cuts metal, steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metal with a carbide-tipped blade, throws fewer sparks than an abrasive cut-off tool and leaves the base material cool, according to Hilti.
Cold cutting of profiles, pipe, conduit and sheet metal
Hilti lists fast precise cuts up to 60 mm in metal, cutting channels, pipes, conduits and profiles up to 2-3/8 in depth, cutting openings in sheet metal for heating and air-conditioning installations, cutting sandwich panels, mesh and corrugated sheet, and corrective trimming. The operating instruction gives a maximum material thickness of 8 mm for mild-steel and stainless-steel plate.
The saw is compatible with a guide rail and an optional pipe adapter for straight and pipe cutting. Hilti highlights a chip collector for low-noise sawing, a rapid blade brake and an LED work light, and states the saw weighs 3.2 kg including a B 22-85 battery. The UAE page lists a box kit (item 2315446) with the saw, an SCBM XCut Struct blade and a parallel guide.

Blade selection and discrepancies to confirm before ordering
The Hilti product page lists a 165 mm blade, while the operating instruction lists a saw blade diameter of 160 mm with a 20 mm arbor and a 1.2 mm kerf. Because the two sources differ, confirm the blade diameter and the part number of the replacement blade with Hilti before ordering spare blades; this page therefore does not state a blade diameter as a firm specification.
The maximum bevel angle is 0 degrees, so the tool cuts square only. Choose it for cold, low-spark cutting of profiles and sheet where an abrasive grinder or cut-off tool would heat or discolour the material, such as stainless steel. State battery size and charger when enquiring.
Hilti cordless drilling and metal cutting tools on the same battery
These tools share the 22 V Nuron battery platform and are the ones most often paired in a fabrication or maintenance kit.

Where the SC 6ML-22 earns its place
The SC 6ML-22 is aimed at installers and fabricators who cut metal away from a fixed workshop saw. Typical users are MEP contractors cutting conduit, channel and support profiles on site, HVAC installers making openings in sheet metal ductwork, cladding crews trimming sandwich panels and corrugated sheet, and maintenance teams who need to shorten a pipe or profile without hot work. Because the saw cuts with a carbide-tipped blade instead of an abrasive disc, it throws fewer sparks and leaves the material cool, which reduces the risk of discoloured stainless steel and makes it a practical choice in areas where sparks and heat must be kept to a minimum.
Selection considerations
Check first that the work fits the saw. The maximum cutting depth and the plate thickness given in the operating instruction set the limits, and the zero bevel angle means the tool is meant for square cuts only. For long straight cuts in sheet or panels, a guide rail gives cleaner results than freehand cutting, while the optional pipe attachment named by Hilti helps when pipes are cut regularly. Teams that already work with other tools on the same cordless platform listed above can share power packs across the fleet, which simplifies daily logistics on site. Finally, resolve the blade diameter question noted on this page before buying spare blades, and choose blades suited to the material that is cut most often.
Good cutting practice
Clamp the workpiece securely so that it cannot move or pinch the blade, and support long profiles on both sides of the cut. Let the blade reach full speed before it enters the material, feed steadily without forcing the saw, and allow the blade brake to stop the blade before lifting the tool away. Empty the chip collector regularly so that metal chips do not build up around the blade. Wear eye and hearing protection, since the sound pressure level on this page is high, and keep hands clear of the cutting line at all times. Treat freshly cut edges as sharp and deburr them before handling.
Using the saw in Oman and GCC conditions
Construction and maintenance sites in Oman and the wider Gulf are hot, dusty and often exposed to direct sun. Keep the saw and its power packs in the shade between cuts, avoid leaving them in closed vehicles during the day, and let the tool cool down if it has been used continuously in high heat. Blow or brush dust and metal chips off the housing and guard after each shift, and inspect the blade for worn or missing tips before starting a new job. Clean, sharp blades cut faster, put less load on the tool and give a better finish on stainless steel and coated sheet.
