GCE JETCONTROL 600 S Series High-Pressure Regulator

Description

A high-pressure regulator for test, purge and process duty

The GCE JETCONTROL 600 (S series) is a single-stage, two-gauge cylinder regulator for processes that need precise, stable delivery of high-pressure industrial gases. GCE names oil refineries, refrigeration, laboratories and industrial processes, and recommends it for high-pressure testing of vessels and gas or liquid pipelines. It is designed for inlet pressure up to 300 bar and delivery pressure up to 206 bar.

The key parts are high-tensile brass, a double-layer pre-shaped stainless steel diaphragm and a metal filter. Bulkhead gauges and a transparent powder-painted finish suit site use, and the outlet connections are compatible with Parker fittings for instant use. GCE states that the design is safe even with small-molecule gases such as helium or hydrogen at very high pressures.

For HVAC purge and leak-test work, the RS series carries JIC outlet fittings: 0762584 (RS 400, 28 bar outlet), 0762583 (RS 600, 41 bar) and 0762590 (RS 750, 52 bar), all with G 5/8 in inlet. The same datasheet lists special-purpose regulators for other duties:

0762397 M 600 Flammable Bottom 300 41 108
0762396 M 600 Inert Bottom 300 41 108

0783594 OR 14 Oxygen Rear 230 14 120
0772037 S 151 OL2 Oxygen Rear 24 10 –

GCE describes the M 600 as a two-stage design for unattended duty such as cable pressurisation and chemical or laboratory supply. The OR 14 has a monel-tied valve for high flow in cylinder and pipeline use, and the S 151 OL2 is a pipeline regulator for tank systems with rear entry for panel or line mounting. CO2 versions need a heater.

Selection and safety notes

Match the type to the test or process pressure with some margin, and verify that the downstream line has its own relief device, because the JETCONTROL 600 has no built-in safety valve. Delivery pressures above 28 bar use compression-type outlets for 1/4 in OD tube. Open cylinder valves slowly, use test hoses or tubing rated above the set pressure, and keep oxygen versions free of oil and grease.

How the GCE JETCONTROL 600 regulator works

A single-stage regulator lowers the high pressure of a cylinder to the lower pressure that the user sets. The gas enters through the inlet, and a valve seat opens and closes against a spring and a diaphragm. When the delivery pressure rises above the set value, the diaphragm moves and closes the seat, and when it falls the seat opens again. The JETCONTROL 600 uses a double-layer stainless steel diaphragm and a high-tensile brass body, so it holds a steady delivery pressure even when the cylinder pressure falls. Two gauges show the inlet and the delivery pressure.

Where the JETCONTROL 600 is used

  • High-pressure testing of vessels and pipelines with gas or liquid.
  • Oil refineries and process plants.
  • Laboratories and research sites.
  • Refrigeration and HVAC purge and leak-test work.
  • Industrial processes that need a stable high delivery pressure.

Selection checklist for the JETCONTROL 600

  • Gas: inert gas, or an oxygen version with a lower inlet limit of 230 bar.
  • Inlet pressure of up to 300 bar.
  • Delivery pressure range, up to 206 bar, from the range table.
  • Flow, from the table of each model.
  • Cylinder entry: bottom, as listed for the S series.
  • Outlet connection, compatible with Parker fittings.
  • Gauge scale and accuracy class of 2.5 percent.
  • JIC outlet fittings of the RS series for HVAC work.
  • Downstream safety valve, which is not fitted and must be provided by the user.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Connect the regulator to a clean and correct cylinder valve, and never use oil or grease on a regulator for oxygen. Back the pressure setting screw out before opening the cylinder valve, and open the valve slowly. Set the delivery pressure by turning the T-bar, and check the connections with a leak test liquid. Fit an independent safety valve in the downstream line, since the regulator has none. Close the cylinder after use and release the pressure from the regulator.

Requesting a quotation for the GCE JETCONTROL 600

Send the gas, the inlet and outlet pressure and the flow. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Design for small-molecule gases

GCE states that the design is safe also with gases of small molecules such as helium or hydrogen at very high pressures.

The metal filter

A metal filter in the inlet protects the seat from particles, which helps keep the pressure setting stable.

Test records

Write the test pressure, the gas and the date on the test sheet.

Handling cylinders and gases safely

Secure the cylinder upright with a chain or a stand, and keep it away from heat and impact. Use only fittings and hoses rated for the test pressure, and keep people clear of the line during a pressure test. Follow the site permit rules for high-pressure work.

Choosing between inert and oxygen versions

Oxygen versions are built and cleaned for oxygen service, so do not use an inert gas regulator for oxygen, and do not mix them up on site.

Ordering GCE torches and regulators: what we need

Give the GCE article number, or the product range with length, head angle and connection threads. State the fuel gas, acetylene or propane, because the nozzle type depends on it, together with the plate thickness you cut, the gas and outlet pressure for regulators, and the safety devices required on site.
