Metrel MI 3155 EurotestXD Industrial Installation Tester

Description

Installation testing for industrial plant, with programmable sequences

The Metrel MI 3155 EurotestXD is described by Metrel as the flagship of its most advanced line of multifunctional installation testers and as designed specifically for testing in industry. It combines the standard IEC/EN 61557 installation tests with functions that plant electricians need: four-wire continuity and four-wire line and loop impedance, insulation testing up to 2500 V with PI and DAR calculation, discharge time testing for machines, and high-current loop impedance measured with a 20 A test current at 230 V.

The interface is a 4.3 inch colour touch screen with a memory organizer and fully programmable AUTO SEQUENCEs. Predefined sequences for TT, TN and IT systems are available, and custom visual and functional inspections can be built into a sequence so that the inspection checklist and the measurements are recorded together. Further functions listed include the live transformer impedance measurement with four-wire test, a hi-precision short-circuit current evaluation with calculated hot factor, an autotest insulation function between L-N, N-PE and L-PE (R ISO ALL), a 3-wire test of the PE conductor without an extension lead, varistor testing and touch or contact voltage measurement with an external probe.

Line, loop and RCD measurements work over a 16 to 400 Hz frequency range, which Metrel positions for high- and low-frequency installations such as industrial, aircraft, railway, mining, chemical and marine supplies.

Where it fits in the test plan

Metrel lists initial and periodic testing of domestic and industrial installations, LV installation safety testing, maintenance, lightning installations, construction sites, mobile LV generator units, machine and switchboard testing, medical installations, emergency vehicles, EVSE testing and the observation of insulation trends. The 2500 V range with PI and DAR suits insulation trending on cables and motors, while the discharge-time measurement supports machine mode checks.

Software support comes from the Metrel ES Manager PC package for structures, reports and data transfer, and an optional aMESM Android app (available with the EU set); the PRO licence is needed for the programmable features marked in the leaflet. Optional accessories include the EVSE adapters A 1532 and A 1532 XA, the Ro-adapter A 1199, the eMobility analyser A 1632, current clamps A 1018, A 1019 and A 1391, Euro Z 440 V and 800 V adapters, longer test leads and insulation test plates.

What to confirm before ordering

Say whether you need the standard set, the Euro set or only the instrument, and which options apply: the licence level (Basic or PRO), current clamps, EVSE adapters, long leads up to 50 m, earth test sets, luxmeter sensors or a barcode scanner. Confirm the test voltage you need for insulation work, the national rules the sequences must follow and the supply frequency of the plant. Specifications are subject to technical change without notice, so check the leaflet revision when you order.

Ordering Metrel instruments: what we need

Give the complete model name and the set you want, because Metrel sells most instruments as standard, Euro or advanced sets with different leads, clamps and software licences. List the accessories separately (longer leads, current clamps, adapters), and state the standard your testing must follow. If you are unsure of the model, describe the installation, the test voltage and the measurements required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insulation test voltages does the MI 3155 offer?
It tests at 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 and 2500 V DC and calculates PI and DAR values.
Does it support four-wire measurements?
Yes. The leaflet lists four-wire continuity and four-wire line and loop impedance, including a live transformer impedance measurement.
What frequency range do line, loop and RCD tests cover?
Metrel states 16 to 400 Hz for line, loop and RCD measurements.
How is the instrument powered?
