NOSHOK PGE20 Digital Pressure Gauge with Data Logger Option

Description

A rugged battery-powered digital pressure gauge for field checks

The NOSHOK PGE20 Series is a general-purpose electronic pressure gauge. A 4-1/2 digit display with a 0 to 100% bar graph replaces the dial of a mechanical gauge, and the case is PBT with 30% glass fiber, rated IP65. Gauge, compound, vacuum and absolute ranges run from 5 psig up to 15,000 psig in the ordering table, with 316L stainless steel wetted parts and a 1/4 inch NPT male connection.

Three 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries power the gauge for typically more than 4,000 hours, and a front keypad sets units (psi, bar, mbar, MPa, kg/cm2 and one user-defined unit), min/max alarm, tare offset, power off and backlighting. An integrated or field-activated data logger is optional.

Ordering and options

Example: PGE20-1500psig-1-2-DL means 0-1,500 psig, accuracy +/-0.5% FS (code 1), 1/4 inch NPT male (code 2) and DL integrated data logger. Other options are CC certified calibration, RCP rubber case protector and ST8 stainless steel threaded orifice. Uninstalled accessories are the PGE20-DL field-activated data logger, the PGE20-IC micro USB interface cable (6 ft) and PGE20-GC1 and PGE20-GC3 carrying cases for one and three gauges.

Typical uses and cautions

  • Hydrostatic and burst testing: the 1.43 to 4 times proof and burst ratings are stated per range.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics set-up, leak detection and water management checks.
  • Setting pressure switch set points with the min/max and tare functions.
  • Operating range is 14 F to 122 F (-10 C to 50 C), so keep the gauge out of direct desert sun when stored in a vehicle.
  • Accuracy is quoted at full scale, so choose a range where the working pressure falls in the upper two thirds of scale.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Maintenance and commissioning teams use a digital gauge to verify pressure on hydraulic power packs, pneumatic lines, water pumps, fire pump test headers and compressed air plant. The IP65 case handles dust and splash. As a handheld indicator it is not a certified calibrator, so request the CC certified calibration option where traceable data is needed.

Reading the specification for field use

The proof and burst figures matter when a gauge is used on hydrostatic tests: for ranges up to 70 psi the gauge tolerates three times full scale, between 100 and 7,500 psi two times, and above 7,500 psi 1.43 times. That means a 10,000 psig gauge should not see more than about 14,300 psi in a surge, so fit a snubber or the ST8 threaded orifice for pulsating lines. The 200 ms response time suits steady readings, while a fast transient needs a transmitter such as the PTI20. The bar graph gives a quick visual in 5 percent steps and the backlight is switched by button to save the batteries. The data logger option lets a technician record a test curve and download it over the micro USB cable, which helps with documentation after commissioning.

When you enquire about the PGE20, state the pressure range between 5 and 15,000 psig, the process connection, the units you prefer and whether you want the data logger option, so that the digital gauge can be configured from the datasheet ordering code.

Selection and installation notes

A pressure instrument is selected from the pressure range, the process media and the connection. Choose a range so that the normal operating pressure lies in the middle of the scale, check that the wetted materials suit the fluid, use the correct seal and thread, fit an isolation valve or snubber where pulsation or surges occur and mount the instrument where it can be read and serviced. Never exceed the overpressure limit on the data sheet, and keep a record of calibration.

For a battery-powered digital gauge, check the battery condition before each use, zero the instrument at atmospheric pressure when required and protect the display from impact.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand

NOSHOK is an American manufacturer of pressure, temperature and flow instruments, established in 1967 and based in Berea, Ohio. It was one of the first companies to offer liquid-filled pressure gauges, introduced a troubleshooter pointer and stainless steel connections on its gauges, and has offered a three-year gauge warranty since 1973. In 2019 NOSHOK acquired King Engineering, maker of KING-GAGE.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list NOSHOK gauges, transmitters and valves for oil and gas, water and process users in Oman and the GCC.
