Brand:

Kübler Sendix 5020 Incremental Hollow Shaft Encoder

Description

An incremental hollow-shaft encoder with an undetachable clamping ring

The Kübler Sendix 5020 is the hollow-shaft version of the Sendix 5000 incremental encoder. It slides over the drive shaft, is clamped with a slotted clamping ring that cannot be lost during installation, and is held against rotation by a spring element, torque stop or stator coupling. This removes the coupling and the alignment work needed for a solid-shaft encoder.

The pulse rate goes up to 5000 pulses per revolution, the outputs are RS422, push-pull or open collector, protection reaches IP66/IP67 with a shaft seal, and the working temperature range is -40 to +85 C. The datasheet also lists a tangential cable outlet and a variant with a short cable and M12 connector for central fastening.

Installation and selection notes

Measure the motor shaft diameter and shaft end length first, because a through hollow shaft needs the shaft to pass the encoder while a blind version is only fitted at the shaft end. A 4 mm torque pin with fixing thread (8.0010.4700.0000) is listed as an accessory for the spring-element flange. Salt-spray-tested types such as 8.5020.18X2.XXXX-C are listed as standard versions for corrosive sites.

Pair the choice of output with the receiving input: push-pull suits PLC counters at 10 to 30 V, RS422 suits long cables and drives. For a solid-shaft version see the

page, or browse encoders. Please confirm the pulse rate and cable length before ordering.

How the Kübler Sendix 5020 works

A disc with fine lines turns with the shaft, and an optical sensor reads the lines. The encoder sends out pulses, and a controller counts them to find the speed and the position. The hollow shaft slides over the motor shaft, so no coupling is needed.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the Sendix 5020

Slide the encoder onto the drive shaft and tighten the clamping ring. Fit the spring element, torque stop or stator coupling so the housing cannot turn. Wire the outputs and the supply. Check the pulse count with the controller. Inspect the cable for wear.

About brand

Kübler is a family-owned German manufacturer of encoders and measuring technology, founded in 1960 and based in Villingen-Schwenningen. The company develops and produces rotary encoders, linear measuring systems, inclinometers, counters and displays, signal converters and slip rings for machine builders and plant operators. Seven Star LLC supplies Kübler encoders to industrial customers in Oman and the GCC on inquiry.

Rotary encoders for drives and machinery

The Sendix family covers incremental encoders such as the 5000 and 5020, optical and magnetic absolute encoders with SSI, BiSS or analog outputs, and explosion-protected versions with ATEX and IECEx approvals. One manufacturer can therefore serve drives, cranes, winches, packaging lines and hazardous-area machinery.

Counters, displays and connection technology

The company also lists pulse counters, tachometers, process displays, signal converters, cordsets and connectors that match its encoder range. Choosing the correct variant depends on the shaft or hollow-shaft size, flange, interface, resolution and protection class, and we check every order code against the manufacturer's datasheet before quoting.
