Donaldson P570329 Clean Solutions Single Filter Head

Description

A single aluminium filter head for diesel and lube bulk fluids, to 65 gpm

The Donaldson P570329 is the single filter head of the Clean Solutions range. It takes one spin-on filter and handles flow rates up to 65 gpm (246 lpm) of diesel fuel or lubricant. As with the dual heads, the aluminium body has threaded steel inserts that reduce galling against the filter and Viton seals that hold in cold weather.

The connection is an SAE-20 O-ring port, the head is pre-ported for pressure gauges or service indicators (sold separately) and it is intended for lower working pressure systems up to 350 psi (24.1 bar).

This page summarises the manufacturer sheet for quick reference. Compare the figures with your drawing, the existing nameplate and the operating conditions of the installation, and tell us anything that differs so the correct variant can be confirmed in writing before any order is placed.

Installation

Mount the single head on the discharge side of the pump with its arrows along the flow, in line with local codes. Isolate the filter and release the pressure before service. A strap wrench turns a stubborn filter off, and the new one goes on by hand with a half turn after the gasket touches. Do not over-tighten, and dispose of the old filter properly.

About 38 mm of clearance is needed beneath the head, and pressures above 350 psi are outside its rating.

Where it fits

The single head suits transfer pumps, small tanks and mobile service trucks where flow stays within 65 gpm. For higher flows the dual head P568583 or the dual head with bypass P574958 is the listed alternative. Order the filter separately and select it from the compatible Clean Solutions models; the sheet repeats that a Clean Solutions head should be used with Clean Solutions filters for maximum cleanliness.

The head is leak free, so fluids stay in and contaminants stay out, and the steel inserts are described as safe for use with diesel fuel. A pressure drop curve for the single head is printed in the sheet against flow in gpm and lpm, so read it at your flow to check that the clean pressure drop suits the pump. Flow rates vary with fluid viscosity, pumping pressure and filter loading, which is why the 65 gpm figure is a maximum and not a guarantee.

About brand

Donaldson is the American filtration company founded in Minnesota in 1915. It started when Frank Donaldson Sr. built an air cleaner for a tractor engine that kept failing in dusty fields. It is now headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, and makes filters and filtration systems for engines, hydraulics, compressed air and gases, dust collection and process liquids.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Donaldson compressed air dryers and filters, gas filter housings, activated carbon adsorbers, hydraulic and fuel filtration and dust collectors, and supply them and their replacement elements in Oman and the GCC.

Milestones

  • 1915: Frank Donaldson Sr. builds an air cleaner for a tractor that kept failing in a dusty field; the family starts Donaldson Company in Minnesota.
  • 1917: Air cleaners are supplied for artillery tractors.
  • 1920s: Exhaust products are added after crop fires caused by engine sparks.
  • 1974: Donaldson acquires Torit, the dust collector business.
  • 2015: The company marks its 100th year.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.

Where Donaldson products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Donaldson filters and dryers are used for instrument and plant air in oil and gas, refining, power and desalination plants, for breathing air, in food and pharmaceutical production, on hydraulic systems and fuel storage, and in cement and bulk handling.

Ordering Donaldson products: what we need

Send the model and size from the nameplate. For dryers and filters, add the flow (m³/h or scfm), working pressure, inlet temperature, required dew point or ISO 8573-1 class, and the supply voltage. For replacement elements, send the element part number or the housing model.
