HOPPECKE grid | power V H 6-100 OGi bloc Battery 6 V 116 Ah

Description

grid | power V H 6-100 is a 6 V vented lead-acid monobloc of the HOPPECKE grid | power V H OGi bloc series, DIN designation OGi bloc 6 V 100. The brochure gives 116 Ah at C10 to 1.80 V per cell, 27.8 kg and a case of 285 x 178 x 285 mm.

A 6 V monobloc for railway, emergency lighting and generator starting

The OGi bloc is the monobloc line of the V H brochure, built to DIN 40739 for maximum compatibility. Its double separation gives a high expected service life and, with an innovative electrode structure, good high-current capability at a low investment cost.

Besides the usual C10, C5 and C3 columns the OGi table adds C1 and the very short C1/2 and C1/6 ratings, which help when judging engine starting and short-time emergency duty.

Benefits listed in the brochure

  • Design to DIN 40739 for maximum compatibility, with HOPPECKE system connectors for short-circuit safety during installation.
  • Double separation: high expected service life, design life up to 15 years.
  • Good high-current capability from the electrode structure.
  • Optional AquaGen recombination system for extremely extended refill intervals.

Derived values (calculated here)

Parameter Specification
Energy at C10 about 0.7 kWh per block (6 V x 116 Ah)
Blocks for a 24 V system 4 blocks in series; float about 27.8 V (12 cells x 2.23 V)

Choosing an OGi bloc size

The brochure lists 6 V blocs 6-20 (23 Ah, 9.5 kg), 6-40, 6-60, 6-80, 6-100, 6-110, 6-130, 6-160 and 6-200 (261 Ah, 49.4 kg, 285 x 232 x 335 mm), plus 4 V blocs 4-230 (305 Ah) and 4-260. The 6-100 and 6-110 share the 285 x 178 x 285 mm case.

Use the C1/2 and C1/6 figures for engine starting and the C3 or C5 column for lighting. Confirm the exact code and plug option before ordering.

Handling and operation from the manual

The manual requires insulated tools, protective clothing and eye protection because the electrolyte is corrosive sulfuric acid. Ventilation must keep hydrogen below 4 percent by volume; no flame, spark or smoking near the cells.

Float at 2.23 V per cell; check open-circuit voltage near 2.08 V per cell before connecting. The manual lists inspection every 6 months, voltage and level checks every year and a capacity test about every 3 years. Refill only with distilled water via the plug or service opening.

Railway control, signal systems and standby generators

The brochure names railway applications (control centres, signal systems, lighting), starter batteries for emergency power diesel generators and emergency lighting installations. General engineering note: in Gulf generator rooms the starter bank must hold its rating in a hot, dusty room, so ventilation and temperature records matter as much as capacity.
