Reliable FCA2 Floor Control Assembly, 1-1/4 to 8 in Riser

Description

The Reliable FCA2 floor control assembly arrives from the factory as one assembled unit with a butterfly valve, check valve, water flow switch, pressure gauge and main drain, for use as a cost-effective sprinkler system riser or floor control assembly. Bulletin 625 (July 2026) covers 1-1/4 in to 8 in sizes. The unit is cULus Listed in all sizes and FM Approved in the 2 in to 8 in (50 mm to 200 mm) sizes.

Design and what is included

The modular design lets every component be rotated independently, and the 90 degree orientation of the main drain and pressure gauge allows compact installation in corners. The main drain is either a ball valve or a Reliable TD (test and drain) valve with a choice of test orifice K-factors, and an optional adjustable pressure relief kit is available. The unit is approved for vertical or horizontal installation, and the flow switch must stay on the top of the piping, rotated no more than 90 degrees from vertical.

Key features from the bulletin

  • Compact, light-weight design with grooved components for universal application.
  • Schedule 10 welded body in 2 in to 8 in; Schedule 40 welded body in 1-1/4 in and 1-1/2 in.
  • Ball valve drain or RASCO test and drain valve with K-factors from 2.8 to 16.8.
  • Adjustable relief valve, 175 to 310 psi (12.1 to 21.4 bar).

Part number decoding

Figure 5 gives the pattern 6A W W 0 V X Y Y Z. Size codes run 01 (1-1/4 in), 03 (1-1/2 in), 10 (2 in), 12 (2-1/2 in), 14 (3 in), 16 (4 in), 18 (6 in) and 19 (8 in). Control valve is F (with, standard) or G (without). The flow detector is P (Potter VSR or VSR-S), X (VSR-FEX) or A (VSR-AT). Drain codes cover ball valves (00, 01, 02) and RASCO T&D valves at each K-factor, and the relief valve position is 0 (none) or A (adjustable). For international pipe, RASCO transition couplings PN 7U99004002 (76 mm pipe with the 2-1/2 in unit) and PN 7U99004003 (165 mm pipe with the 6 in unit) can be ordered.

Installation notes

Install to the applicable NFPA standards and local authority, in an accessible, visible location at 40 F (4 C) or above, with supply piping not exposed to freezing or mechanical damage. Pipe the drain to a safe place. The relief valve may be adjusted temporarily above the test pressure for hydrostatic testing, but must be returned to its setting afterwards. Reliable Streamline drain hoses (Bulletin 442) are designed for the FCA2.

Typical applications

Floor control assemblies isolate and monitor one floor or zone of a multi-storey wet system, giving a flow alarm, drain and test point at each level. They are common in hotels, offices, residential towers and hospitals. Confirm the design basis and local approval for your project.

Selection and installation notes

A fire protection valve is only one part of a sprinkler system, which must be designed, installed and commissioned by qualified people to the standard and the authority rules that apply to the project. Confirm the size, the pressure rating and the trim configuration against the design, install the valve in the position and orientation in the manual, fit the drain and alarm connections as drawn, test the alarm and the flow before handover and keep the inspection and test records. Check the listing and approvals needed for the project with the authority before purchase.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
