Dahua IPC-HDW2649T-S-PRO 6MP WizColor Eyeball Camera

IPC-HDW2649T-S-PRO is a 6 MP WizColor eyeball camera from the Dahua WizSense 2 series. It pairs a large 1/1.8 inch sensor with an F1.0 lens to produce colour video at night from very little light, and adds two warm-light LEDs for up to 30 m when ambient light is not enough.

Colour at night without relying on infrared

Dahua explains WizColor as the combination of an AI-ISP, a large-pixel sensor and a large aperture, which lets the camera use weak light such as moonlight or reflected city light to deliver full-colour images instead of black and white. The datasheet states a minimum illumination of 0.0002 lux at F1.0; the practical benefit is that colour detail such as clothing and vehicle paint survives on sites with some street lighting.

The main stream reaches 3288 x 1850 at 20 fps, and 2688 x 1520 at 25/30 fps is also supported. Two fixed lenses are offered, 2.8 mm (92 degrees horizontal) and 3.6 mm (78 degrees), in a 109.5 mm by 109.9 mm diameter body of 0.42 kg.

Selection and ordering guide

The datasheet ordering code is DH-IPC-HDW2649T-S-PRO (6MP WizColor Fixed-focal Eyeball WizSense Network Camera). Choose between the 2.8 mm and 3.6 mm lens; both share the model name, so give the lens in your enquiry.

Compared with a 4 MP eyeball, the 6 MP sensor gives a higher pixel density at the same distance (derived comparison), but the maximum frame rate at full resolution is 20 fps. Use the 2688 x 1520 mode if you need 25/30 fps.

Installation and operation notes

The camera runs from 12 VDC or 802.3af PoE and draws at most 6.4 W on PoE, so it fits standard low-power PoE ports. Dahua lists the DH-PFA13G junction box and several brackets for mounting. Keep the lens clean of dust and avoid pointing it at bright lamps, because WizColor depends on collecting as much ambient light as possible. Management is through the web interface, DMSS, Smart PSS Lite or DSS.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

The operating range of -40 to +60 C and IP67 enclosure suit outdoor mounting in heat and dust; the anti-corrosion class is basic, so coastal sites need a separate check. Typical uses are lit car parks, residential and commercial compounds, school and hospital grounds, shop frontage and building entrances where colour identification at night matters more than long infrared range.

Selection and installation notes

A security camera is selected from the scene, the distance, the light level and the analytics needed. Plan the mounting height and angle, the PoE or power supply, the cable run and the storage for the number of recording days required, set a strong password at commissioning and keep the firmware current. Check the coverage at night as well as in daylight.
