The Donaldson D090266 is a PowerCore PSD air cleaner with side filter service access, intended for off-road equipment in medium to heavy dust. The PSD family offers two-stage filtration in one compact non-metal unit: high-efficiency pre-cleaner tubes ahead of a PowerCore straight-through primary filter and a safety filter. The sheet quotes engine airflows up to 1,252 cfm across the family.
The obround housing allows narrow or wide mounting, built-in mounting brackets on three sides remove the need for mounting bands, and the cover is removed without tools. The pre-cleaner drop tube can be used as a scavenge line or with a Vacuator valve, and a service indicator port is provided.

Scavenging and installation
PSD air cleaners run with or without aspiration, also called scavenging, and the sheet recommends a scavenge system for horizontally mounted PSD12 and PSD14 applications. Scavenged system components such as exhaust ejectors and check valves are listed in the same catalogue.
Add the restriction of ducting, elbows and any further pre-cleaning to the air cleaner value to obtain the total intake restriction. If two models fit the engine airflow, the one with the lower restriction gives longer filter life. Confirm the model and the orientation with the nameplate on the machine before ordering service parts.
Filter service access is either at the inlet end (PSD08 end-access models) or on the side (PSD08 to PSD14). The side-access cover is water tight and a service handle is attached to the filter, so the primary filter lifts out with no tools. Containment of dust is a design aim: dust and dirt stay in the filter during service. Models for PSD14 use stretch-limited latches and an optional gasket, P623192, seals the air cleaner to an inlet duct.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.
