Allen-Bradley 22B-D4P0N104 PowerFlex 40 1.5 kW AC Drive
Description
A compact 1.5 kW PowerFlex 40 for 380 to 480V supplies
The Allen-Bradley 22B-D4P0N104 is a PowerFlex 40 drive in frame B for 1.5 kW (2 Hp) motors on a three-phase 380 to 480V supply. Rockwell lists 4 A of output current, IP20 / NEMA Type Open panel mounting, an LED display with a digital keypad, RS485 communications and no CE-compliant EMC filter. The PowerFlex 40 is the long-running general-purpose drive that sits below the PowerFlex 520 series and is documented in the 22B-UM001 user manual, edition J of September 2025.
The catalog number reads 22B, a dash, D for 480V, 4P0 for 4.0 A, then N for the IP20 open enclosure, a HIM code, the emission-class digit and a type digit. The same 4.0 A rating is also offered as 22B-D4P0F104 (IP20 flange mount) and 22B-D4P0C104 (IP66 / NEMA Type 4X), both frame B, according to the ratings table in the manual.

Drive performance and protective functions
Output frequency is programmable from 0 to 400 Hz with 97.5% typical efficiency. Carrier frequency runs 2 to 16 kHz with ratings based on 4 kHz, and the drive provides 150% overload for one minute and 200% for three seconds with class 10 electronic motor overload protection. Open-loop slip-compensated speed regulation is plus or minus 1% of base speed over a 60:1 range.
On 380 to 480V supplies the DC-bus overvoltage trip occurs at 810V DC (about 575V AC line) and the undervoltage trip at 390V DC (about 275V AC). Power ride-through is 100 ms, and control ride-through is at least 0.5 s with 2 s typical. An internal brake IGBT is included, so only a dynamic-brake resistor is needed for faster stopping.
Selecting and installing the 1.5 kW rating
On the 480V ladder, this rating sits between 22B-D2P3N104 (0.75 kW, 2.3 A) and 22B-D6P0N104 (2.2 kW, 6.0 A), and all three are frame B drives. The ladder moves to frame C only at 22B-D012N104 (5.5 kW, 12 A). A 1.5 kW size is a typical choice for small pumps, fans, mixers and conveyor sections where a simple keypad-driven drive is enough.
Environmental limits depend on the enclosure: IP20 open is -10 to +50 C, while IP30 / NEMA Type 1 and the IP66 / Type 4X versions are rated -10 to +40 C. Altitude is 1000 m without derating, humidity up to 95% non-condensing, and the manual warns against corrosive or dusty atmospheres. Cooling is by fan on all ratings except the 0.4 kW convection-cooled sizes.
Ordering and documents
Order by the full catalog number 22B-D4P0N104. Confirm the supply voltage, the motor nameplate current, whether a CE filter or a flange-mount or washdown enclosure is needed, and which keypad and communication accessories you want, as these are separate part numbers. The document hosted with this page is the PowerFlex 40 user manual 22B-UM001J, which contains the ratings tables, specifications and fault list.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and quotes on request; please confirm every rating against the current Rockwell documents before ordering.

About brand
Allen-Bradley is the brand of Rockwell Automation for industrial control: ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers, I/O systems, PanelView operator terminals, PowerFlex drives, motor control and industrial network equipment. The company began in Milwaukee in 1903, when Lynde Bradley and Dr. Stanton Allen formed the Compression Rheostat Company to make the motor speed controller Bradley had invented in 1901. It took the name Allen-Bradley in 1909 and was bought by Rockwell International in 1985. Since 2001 its owner has been Rockwell Automation, which is still headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Allen-Bradley company profile

Reading Allen-Bradley catalogue numbers
The first digits of an Allen-Bradley catalogue number identify the platform, which tells you what is compatible with what. 1756 is ControlLogix (chassis-based, used for large process and plant control), 1769 is CompactLogix 5370 with Compact I/O, 5069 is CompactLogix 5380 with Compact 5000 I/O, 1734 is POINT I/O, 1794 and 5094 are FLEX and FLEX 5000 distributed I/O, 1746 and 1747 belong to the older SLC 500 family, 1766 is MicroLogix 1400 and 2080 is Micro800. For drives, 25B is PowerFlex 525 and 22B is PowerFlex 40; in a code such as 25B-D010N114, "D" means 380–480 V, "010" is the output current rating, and N114 instead of N104 means the drive has an integrated EMC filter. Many plants in the region still run SLC 500 and older MicroLogix systems, which Rockwell has discontinued, so exact spares and migration to CompactLogix are both common requests.
Where Allen-Bradley products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Allen-Bradley controllers and drives run on oil and gas facilities, water treatment and pumping stations, cement, food and beverage and packaging plants, and on machines supplied by American OEMs. ControlLogix is often the platform for plant control systems, while PowerFlex drives are used on pumps, fans and conveyors.

Ordering Allen-Bradley products: what we need
Send the full catalogue number and the series letter from the label (for example 1756-EN2T Series D), because firmware and compatibility can change between series. For drives, add the motor power, voltage and filter option. For a discontinued SLC 500 or MicroLogix part, tell us whether you need the exact spare or a migration proposal.
