Description
The 1.5 kW PowerFlex 525 with integral EMC filter
The Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N114 combines the 2 Hp (1.5 kW) PowerFlex 525 rating with an integral EMC filter. It runs from a three-phase 380 to 480V supply, provides 4 A of output, and carries embedded EtherNet/IP plus Safe Torque Off.
Choose this suffix when the machine needs low emissions with short motor cables and you want to avoid a separate filter and its wiring. The enclosure remains IP20 Open Type.

Decoding 25B-D4P0N114
25B marks the PowerFlex 525 family, D is 480V AC, and 4P0 is the 4.0 A output code. N is the IP20 enclosure. In the trailing digits, 1 is the standard interface, the next 1 means an EMC filter is fitted, and 4 is standard braking.
Do not confuse it with 25B-D4P0N104, which has the same power but a 0 in the filter position. They are separately listed products.
The mounting rules are the same as for other frame A units: panel or DIN rail mounting, zero stacking allowed up to 45 °C ambient for the open-type version, and a maximum of 50 °C for vertical mounting without derating. Shock and vibration ratings are 15 g and 2 g in operation.
The documentation to use with this drive is the PowerFlex 520-series technical data 520-TD001 and the 520-UM001 user manual, which cover parameters, wiring and the Safe Torque Off function. For a replacement, compare the nameplate catalog number and series letter, since the firmware and parameter set can differ between series.
Filter performance and losses
With the internal filter the drive meets EN 61800-3 Category C2 at up to 10 m of motor cable and Category C3 at up to 20 m, according to the Rockwell technical data. Total losses are 63 W.
Input rating is 5.2 kVA at 5.7 A maximum. The recommended UL 61800-5-1 devices are a 15 A fuse, a 100-C09 or 100-E09 contactor and the 140MT-C3E-B63 breaker, and the IEC fuse range is 10 to 16 A.
Key features of the PowerFlex 525
- Embedded EtherNet/IP: connects directly to Logix controllers and HMIs, with drive parameters accessible over the network.
- Safe Torque Off: built-in STO rated SIL 2 / PLd removes torque-producing power to the motor without cutting the drive’s supply, simplifying machine safety circuits.
- Several motor control modes: V/Hz for fans and pumps, sensorless vector for higher starting torque, economizer for energy savings at light load, closed loop velocity vector with an encoder card, and permanent magnet motor control.
- Removable control module: the control module can be configured separately from the power module, which helps when preparing spares.
- Integral EMC filter: fitted in this catalog number, so no external filter is needed for the stated emission class with short motor cables.
Sizing a 1.5 kW drive
Size the drive by motor current rather than kW alone. Check that the motor nameplate full-load current at the supply voltage does not exceed the 4.0 A output rating, and consider the overload requirement: heavy-duty loads such as conveyors and positive displacement pumps may need the 150 % for 60 s capability, while centrifugal fans and pumps rarely do. If the motor is at the limit of the rating, or the application has frequent heavy starts, consider the next size up.
Heat and installation in Oman and GCC panels
The drive dissipates about 63 W at full load, and this heat must be removed from the enclosure. In summer the ambient around outdoor panels in the region can exceed the drive’s rated ambient, so check Rockwell derating data for temperature and altitude and plan panel cooling accordingly. Mount the drive vertically with the clearances in the user manual, keep air filters clean in dusty locations, and avoid placing it above other heat sources.
EMC wiring practice
An integral filter only works as intended with good wiring practice:
- Use shielded motor cable and terminate the shield at both the drive and the motor with 360° clamps.
- Keep the motor cable short; the integral filter is intended for short cable runs as stated above.
- Separate power and control cables, and cross them at right angles where they must meet.
- Bond the drive and enclosure to a common earth with low-impedance connections.
- Be aware that EMC filters have earth leakage current; on IT or high-resistance earthed supplies, the filter connection may need to be changed as described in the manual.
Typical applications
A 1.5 kW PowerFlex 525 is commonly used on small pumps, fans and blowers in HVAC and water systems, conveyors, mixers and packaging machines, and process skids where EtherNet/IP is already the plant network.
What to include in an RFQ
Quote the catalog number 25B-D4P0N114 and quantity, plus any options such as communication adapters, an encoder card, a human interface module or a different filter configuration. For replacement of an installed drive, include the nameplate photo and the motor data so compatibility can be confirmed.
Ordering note
Send the 25B-D4P0N114 reference, motor data and cable length. The image is a frame A family picture. Always confirm the exact catalog number before ordering; more options are in AC Drives and PowerFlex 525 AC drive.

About brand
Catalog numbers beginning 1756, 1734, 1746 or 5069 are read at a glance by anyone who maintains Allen-Bradley control panels. The brand, the control hardware name of Rockwell Automation, dates back to 1903 in Milwaukee, USA. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Allen-Bradley PLC and I/O modules, communication adapters and PowerFlex drives for plants in Oman, matching catalog number, series letter and firmware against the manufacturer's documentation.
Allen-Bradley product families listed here
Current controller platforms on this page are ControlLogix, with the 1756-L85E ControlLogix 5580 controller and the 1756-PA72 chassis power supply, and CompactLogix 5380, with the 5069-L320ER and 5069-L340ERM. Distributed I/O is represented by POINT I/O: the 1734-AENTR dual-port EtherNet/IP adapter and the 1734-IB8 digital input module. Allen-Bradley drives listed include the PowerFlex 525 and PowerFlex 755. For installed systems there are SLC 500 parts: the 1746-A10 chassis, 1746-NI16I analog input module, 1747-ASB remote I/O adapter, 1747-KE interface and 1747-M13 memory module.
Where Allen-Bradley hardware is used
ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers run packaged equipment and plant utilities: compressor and pump skids, water and wastewater plants, power distribution, material handling and packaging lines. PowerFlex drives control pumps, fans and conveyors. Many SLC 500 racks are still in service.
Ordering Allen-Bradley modules and drives: what we need
Send the full catalog number, the series letter and, for controllers and communication modules, the firmware revision printed on the side label. Compatibility with an existing project depends on these. For PowerFlex drives, give the complete catalog string, which encodes voltage, current rating, enclosure and options, plus the motor nameplate data. For SLC 500 parts, tell us the rack size and processor so that we can check slot and power supply loading in the manufacturer's manuals. A label photo avoids most mistakes.
