Description

7.5 kW inverter of the 8400 StateLine C family

The Lenze E84AVSCE7524SX0 is an Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine C frequency inverter for a 7.5 kW four-pole motor, in the built-in (installation) version. It is fed from 3/PE AC 400 V (320 to 440 V) or 500 V (400 to 550 V) and gives 16.5 A rated output current at 45 degrees C. Source: Lenze Inverter Drives 8400 hardware manual, EDS84ASC552 EN 10.0 (0.25 to 45 kW, StateLine C, HighLine C, TopLine C). Lenze shows the 8400 StateLine on its website; availability and hardware version of this code remain to be confirmed.

Enclosure, output range and approvals

Lenze gives 0 to 1000 Hz as the output range and IP20 (NEMA 250 type 1 touch protection) as the enclosure. The manual’s approval list reads CE, EAC (TR CU 004/2011, TR CU 020/2011), UL 508C and CSA 22.2 No. 14, the latter only with an external mains choke.

How the code E84AVSCE7524SX0 breaks down

The hardware manual’s product key splits the code as E84 (Inverter Drives 8400), A (first version), V (vector-controlled), SC (StateLine C), E (installation, the standard mounting), 752 (power: 75 x 10^2 W, that is 7.5 kW), 4 (voltage class 4 = 400/500 V three-phase), S (standard industrial environment IE33), X (without safety system), and 0, the standard design.

Control functions and I/O

Control modes comprise VFCplus V/f operation, VFCplus eco and sensorless vector control, backed by S-shaped ramps, flying restart, brake management and a built-in brake chopper, with 200 percent overload for 3 s. Terminals: 5 digital inputs, 1 digital output, 1 analog input and output, a relay, and HTL encoder input up to 10 kHz. CANopen is integrated; MCI modules provide PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, POWERLINK or INTERBUS.

Mounting and sizing

Size GG 5 measures 270 x 140 mm in front view. Rated figures hold for 2 and 4 kHz, no choke; 16 kHz gives 11.0 A. Connect a brake resistor of 27 ohm minimum to the internal chopper. A choke cuts the mains current from 20.0 A to 15.0 A. Order the X400 keypad (EZAEBK1001) and MCI modules separately.

The hardware manual adds operating limits for all sizes. Mains switching is allowed three times in nine minutes without restriction, and the starting current is twice the rated current. TT and TN systems are permitted without restriction, whereas IT systems or grounded-phase networks require the special measures in the manual. Leakage current exceeds 3.5 mA AC or 10 mA DC, so observe the earthing rules for the 7.5 kW size.

  • Output frequency range 0–1000 Hz.
  • Compact device size GG 5 (270 × 140 × 199 mm, 4.4 kg).

Where the StateLine C fits in the 8400 range

The Lenze 8400 family includes BaseLine, StateLine, HighLine and TopLine versions. As described in the hardware manual, StateLine C, HighLine C and TopLine C share the same power hardware for 0.25 to 45 kW, while the control functions increase from StateLine to TopLine. StateLine is intended for speed-controlled applications such as conveyors, pumps, fans and travelling drives, where the drive receives its commands through digital and analog I/O or a fieldbus. Applications that need positioning functions are generally covered by the HighLine or TopLine versions.

Sizing the drive and brake resistor

Check the motor nameplate current against the 16.5 A continuous rating. If the cabinet air is warmer than 45 °C, the rated current falls (12.4 A at 55 °C), and at a switching frequency of 16 kHz it is reduced to 11.0 A. For loads with high inertia, frequent stops or lowering motion, an external brake resistor is needed; it must not be lower than 27 ohm, and its power rating should be calculated from the braking energy and duty cycle.

Mains choke

With a mains choke, the input current falls from 20.0 A to 15.0 A at 400 V, which reduces harmonics and the load on upstream cables and protection. The manual also notes that a mains choke is required for the CSA approval.

Installation in Oman and GCC conditions

The IP20 enclosure is meant for installation inside a control cabinet. In hot climates, cabinet cooling is essential to keep the internal air at or below 45 °C if the full rated current is needed, and the 320 W power loss of the drive at rated current must be included in the cooling calculation. Dust filters on cabinet fans should be checked and cleaned regularly, particularly in sandy or industrial areas.

What to include in your RFQ

State the full type code E84AVSCE7524SX0, the quantity, and any accessories such as communication modules, a mains choke, an EMC filter or a brake resistor. If you are replacing an existing drive, send a photo of its nameplate including the hardware version, together with the delivery location.

Commissioning and maintenance

Before switching on, check the mains and motor connections, the earthing and the shield terminations. Enter the motor nameplate data, set the control source and ramp times, and test the drive at low speed before full operation. During maintenance, clean the heatsink and fans and check terminal tightness at regular intervals.

Documents and quotation

Complete rating, dimension, fuse and accessory tables are in the attached Lenze hardware manual. More drives: AC Drives. Quote with the full type code, supply voltage, motor nameplate data and required fieldbus, and confirm the exact variant against the nameplate before ordering.

About brand

Lenze is a German company for drive and automation technology for machine building, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Aerzen, Lower Saxony. Its portfolio runs from frequency inverters, servo inverters and motors to controllers, engineering software and digital services.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lenze frequency and servo inverters, including current and earlier generations, for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Lenze product series

Current inverters on this site are the i500 family: the i510 compact frequency inverter, the i550 cabinet inverter and its i550 protec decentral version for mounting on the machine, and the i950 cabinet servo inverter. Earlier generations that are still widely installed are also listed: the 8400 StateLine C inverters (E84AVSC...), the 8200 vector frequency inverters (E82EV...) and the 9300 servo position controllers and servo inverters (EVS93...), including versions with Safe Torque Off.

Where Lenze drives are used

Conveyors and intralogistics, packaging and bottling lines, pumps and fans, hoists, textile and printing machines, and positioning axes on special machines. Many plants in the region keep 8200 vector and 9300 drives in service and need exact replacements or a planned migration to the i500 series.

Ordering Lenze inverters: what we need

Send the complete type code from the nameplate, for example E84AVSCE5524SX0, together with the supply voltage, motor power and current, the control interface or fieldbus module, and any options such as safety functions, keypad or brake resistor. When replacing an installed drive, keep the parameter set and wiring records, because a new unit or a successor model must be parameterised to match the machine.

Frequently Asked Questions
