Bray Series F15/F30 Flanged Full-Port Ball Valve, NPS 1/2 to 12

Description

Fire-safe flanged ball valve with a live-loaded stem seal

The Bray Series F15/F30 is a two-piece, full-port flanged ball valve for demanding industrial service. The F15 is rated ASME Class 150 and the F30 ASME Class 300, in sizes NPS 1/2 to 12 (DN 15 to 300). Bray builds the smaller sizes on a floating ball for low torque and long cycle life, and as standard the larger sizes (6 to 12 inch) use a trunnion-style ball support so the ball stays in continuous contact with the seats, which lowers torque and seat wear.

Shutoff is zero leakage in both directions, bodies are investment cast in sizes to 4 inch with heat-number traceability, and the body can be stainless steel, carbon steel or a special alloy. The certified design list is long for this class of valve, covering API 607 fire safety, ISO 15848-1/2 and API 641 fugitive emissions, NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and 372, CRN, PED 2014/68/EU, UKCA, SIL and ATEX.

Fire safety, seat choice and special options

Valves fitted with graphite stem seals are certified to API 607. If heat destroys the resilient seat in a fire, the ball contacts the integral secondary metal seat to form a secure seal, a spiral-wound stainless and graphite body seal prevents external leakage, and the graphite stem rings prevent stem leakage. Seat selection covers the chemical, temperature and cycle duty: PEEK gives high pressure and temperature capability, Tek-Fil reduces torque in high-temperature, high-cycle and steam service, and TFM 1600 offers the chemical resistance of PTFE with lower porosity.

Special options include cavity fillers, media containment units, spring-return handles, NACE MR0175 and MR0103 materials, vented balls, polished internals, a characterized ball (V-Control), special cleaning, chlorine service, silicone-free finish and vacuum service. Manual valves have a locking device, a safety trigger on sizes to 2 inch, a double lock nut design that allows the handle to be removed under line pressure and an anti-tamper padlock provision.

Choosing between F15 and F30 and related Bray ball valves

Take the F15 for Class 150 utility and process lines and the F30 where Class 300 pressure or higher steam pressure is needed. The Series RF15/RF30 one-piece standard-port version and the metal-seated F15/F30, M1 and M4 severe-service valves cover other duties. Please confirm the line medium, temperature, pressure class, seat, end connection standard (ASME or DIN), fire-safe requirement, NACE need, and the actuator or handle type.

Model Duty Pressure class
F15/F30 soft seated (this page) Industrial, floating or trunnion-style ball Class 150 / 300
RF15/RF30 1-piece flanged, standard port Class 150 / 300
F15/F30 metal seated High temperature and abrasive Class 150 / 300
M1 / M4 Severe service See Bray brochures

About brand

Bray International is the Houston-based maker of butterfly valves, knife gate and slurry valves, actuators and valve controls. It was incorporated in Houston on 23 April 1986, founded by Craig C. Brown and Frank J. Raymond, and assembled its first butterfly valves in 1987. Among them were the Series 20/21, 30/31 and 35/36 resilient-seated valves that are still in its range.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Bray valves, actuators, positioners and switch boxes, and supply complete automated valve packages and spare parts to water, oil and gas and process plants in Oman and the GCC.

Actuators Series 92/93 rack and pinion, Series 98 scotch yoke, Series 70 electric Automating quarter-turn valves with air or electric power
Positioners and switch boxes 6A, 6P, 5A, 5C Ex d, Series 54 sensors Modulating control and open/closed position feedback to the control system

The butterfly valve type follows the duty. Resilient-seated valves seal on a rubber liner, which makes them economical and bubble-tight for water and utilities. High-performance valves use an offset disc and a PTFE or metal seat for higher pressures and temperatures. Triple-offset valves add a third geometric offset so the disc meets the seat without rubbing, which allows a metal-to-metal, zero-leakage seal in steam and hydrocarbon service.

Where Bray valves are used

In Oman and the GCC, Bray valves and actuators are used in water transmission and distribution, desalination and wastewater plants, district cooling and HVAC, petrochemical and chemical plants, power stations and mining and slurry lines.

Ordering Bray valves: what we need
