Where it belongs in a fire alarm system

The data sheet describes the cable as a flame-resistant, halogen-free, statically screened installation cable for telecommunication purposes in industrial complexes, public buildings, hotels, airports, underground railway networks and hospitals. The screen suppresses strong interference impulses. It is not for power or high-current installations, and the data sheet states it is not for underground laying.

E 30 to E 90 functionality depends on the installation technique, so the cable should be installed with the tested fixings. In a typical addressable fire alarm project the cable is used for detection loops, sounder circuits and interface cabling, with the pair count selected from the loop design. Check the loop resistance and capacitance limits stated by the panel manufacturer against the table values above.

About brand

HELUKABEL is the German manufacturer and supplier of cables, wires and cable accessories, with a range that covers control, power, data, fire-resistant and drag-chain cables. Helmut Luksch and his wife founded the company in 1978 in Hemmingen, near Stuttgart. The name combines the first letters of his first and last name (HElmut LUksch) with the word for cable (Kabel). It has made its own cables since 1988.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list HELUKABEL control, power, VFD, data and fire-resistant cables and supply them to contractors, panel builders and plants in Oman and the GCC by type, cross-section and length.

NYY-J, N2XH-J 0.6/1 kV power cables Power distribution; N2XH-J for buildings where halogen-free cable is required
TOPFLEX-EMV-3-PLUS, TOPFLEX-EMV-UV, TOPFLEX 611-C-PUR Screened motor cables Connecting motors to variable speed drives and servo drives with low interference
(N)HXH-FE 180/E 90, JE-H(St)H Bd FE 180 Fire-resistant cables Safety circuits, fire alarm systems and emergency power that must keep working in a fire
PAAR-TRONIC-CY, SUPER-PAAR-TRONIC-C-PUR, OZ-BL-CY Signal and instrument cables Measurement signals, drag chains, and blue-sheathed intrinsically safe circuits
H07RN-F, H01N2-D Rubber cables Mobile equipment, temporary power and arc welding

The code on a European cable describes its build. In NYY-J, N means a standard type, Y a PVC insulation and sheath, and J a green-yellow earth core. In N2XH, 2X is XLPE insulation and H a halogen-free sheath. A C or CY in the name marks a copper braid screen. FE 180 and E 90 are the fire tests: insulation integrity for 180 minutes and circuit function for 90 minutes as an installed system.

Where HELUKABEL cables are used

In Oman and the GCC, HELUKABEL cables are used in oil and gas and process plants, motor control centres and VFD installations, building fire alarm and life safety systems, machinery and cranes, and water and power infrastructure.

Ordering HELUKABEL cables: what we need

Send the cable type, the number of cores and cross-section (for example 4G2.5 or 3x150+70), the length, and whether you need a specific standard or certificate. For fire-resistant cables, add the required test (FE 180, E 30 or E 90).

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the E 30 to E 90 rating mean?
It is the functional-maintenance time of the installed cable system, 30 to 90 minutes, tested to DIN 4102 part 12 and dependent on the installation technique.
Is the cable screened?
Yes, with an alu-laminated polyester tape and a 0.8 mm tinned copper drain wire.
Can it be laid underground?
No. The data sheet states it is not for purposes of high-current and power installation as well as underground laying.
What is the conductor size?
Solid 0.8 mm conductors twisted in pairs, four pairs to a unit.
What is the bending radius?
6x the cable diameter.
