Mobrey DMSP400 Ultrasonic Level and Flow Transmitter
Description
Non-contact ultrasonic transmitters for level, contents and open channel flow
The Mobrey DMSP400 series covers the DMSP422, DMSP400 and DMSP500 ultrasonic transmitters, which measure liquid level, contents or open channel flow without touching the liquid. Ultrasonic pulses are sent to the liquid surface and reflected; the time of flight gives the distance, and with the distance to the vessel bottom configured the transmitter calculates level and volume for linear or non-linear vessels such as cylindrical, domed or spherical tanks. For open channels, flow is calculated from the level for a wide variety of flumes and weirs.
An internal sensor compensates the speed of sound for temperature, and false echoes from disturbing objects can be configured out. A local six-digit LCD with push buttons handles parameter display, configuration and diagnostics. The units interface with the DMCU900 HART controller for local display and pump control.

Housing codes are 8 for plastic (PBT) and 9 for painted aluminium. Installation brackets for horizontal mounting from a tank wall are listed for 1 1/2 and 2 inch threads in 200, 500 and 700 mm lengths (DMBR022 to DMBR075), and flange adaptors are available on request.
Selection notes
The datasheet lists chemical and hydrocarbon storage tanks, wet wells, sumps and pumping station pump control as typical applications. Choose the range from the maximum distance to the liquid surface including the blanking distance, and check the sensor material against the vapors above the liquid. Use DMSP500 only where an intrinsically safe Zone 0 marking is needed.

About brand
Mobrey is a British brand of level and flow instruments with a long history in process measurement. Emerson acquired Solartron Mobrey from The Roxboro Group in 2005 and ran it as Mobrey Measurement, and in 2019 the Mobrey line passed to the UK company Delta Controls, whose Delta Mobrey business now issues the product datasheets. The range covers float and displacer level switches, ultrasonic and hydrostatic level transmitters, solids level switches and vane flow switches.

Mobrey product series
Level transmitters include the MLT100 SMART HART displacer transmitter, the 9710 submersible hydrostatic transmitter with 4-20 mA and the DMSP400 ultrasonic level and flow transmitter.
Level switches include the MVLSF magnetic vertical float switch with the MHLSC horizontal switch chambers, the PLS rotating paddle switch and the DMS vibrating fork switch for solids. The 131 is a vane operated flow switch for air flow.
Float switches are mounted in external chambers so they can be isolated for service, displacer transmitters measure level and interface in process vessels, and vibrating fork and rotating paddle switches suit silos of powders and granules. Hydrostatic transmitters such as the 9710 sit at the bottom of open tanks and wells.
