Haws 7620 AXION eyePOD Faucet-Mounted Eyewash

7620 is the Haws AXION eyePOD, a polished stainless steel eyewash that screws onto a standard sink faucet and switches between faucet mode and eyewash mode with a single rotation. It flows 0.9 gpm in eyewash mode and shuts itself off if the water is over 100 F (37.8 C).

Turn an ordinary faucet into an eyewash station

The eyePOD is a disc 3.5 in. (8.9 cm) in diameter and 2 in. (5 cm) high from its top to the faucet outlet. A one-motion rotation in either direction activates or deactivates it, and the standard 55/64-27 stainless steel female faucet connection is supplied together with four adapters: 15/16-27 male, 13/16-27 male, 3/8-18 male and 13/16-24 female.

In faucet mode it passes 0.5 gpm (1.9 L) through a pre-assembled multi-stream spray, and an optional 1 gpm (3.8 L) laminar outlet is also supplied. In eyewash mode the AXION head uses inverted directional laminar flow with an integral 0.9 gpm (3.4 L) flow control. Haws notes the unit is self-draining when left in faucet mode.

Selection and ordering guide

The 7620 fits where a laboratory, clinic or workshop already has a sink faucet and floor space is scarce. It does not replace a plumbed shower, and it is only as dependable as the faucet and supply behind it: the sheet says ANSI compliance applies when it is properly installed in a water system providing the right pressure, volume and temperature.

The datasheet refers to ADA compliance when the unit is installed on an ADA compliant faucet and sink with knee clearance.

Installation and operation notes

Installation steps on the sheet: remove the aerator, fit the appropriate adapter if needed, install the locknut and standard interface onto the faucet together using the coin slots (a quarter works well), then thread the locknut on the eyePOD with the unit facing forward in faucet mode. Failure to install properly may affect function.

Use it only with water between 60 F (15 C) and 100 F (37 C); above 100 F an internal thermostatic valve shuts off the eyewash stream. Always return it to faucet mode after use to drain. Haws also publishes an eyePOD FAQ document that covers common questions.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

In the GCC, a hot-water faucet can deliver water well above 100 F, so check how the faucet is plumbed: the unit will shut off the stream rather than scald, which is a safety feature but also means a tempered supply is needed for it to work.
