Datakom DKG-605 Alarm Annunciator Unit
Description
An eight-channel annunciator for generating sets and diesel engines
The DKG-605 is a compact 8-channel programmable alarm annunciator used in generating sets and diesel engines. It can be used as an alarm extension module or as a stand-alone alarm annunciator and shutdown device, and several units can be connected in parallel to build a larger alarm system. Each input can be programmed as normally open or normally closed, switching positive or negative supply voltage, with delays of 0.5 to 4 seconds in four steps, latching or non-latching behaviour, and as a shutdown input, warning input, visual warning (no relay) or no connection. Easy alarm identification is provided by an insertable text label for each channel. It is part of our diesel generator spare parts range.

How the alarms behave
In the initial state the unit watches the Safety On signal, with the Power On LED steady. The Safety On signal is taken from the AC generator voltage input or from input 8 (programmable), and the Safety On timer is programmable. When the signal arrives, alarm inputs are enabled after the timer, and the Power On LED flashes. If an alarm occurs, its LED flashes, its semiconductor output turns on and the warning and shutdown relays operate, supplying battery positive. A warning-type input does not operate the shutdown relay, and a visual warning also does not operate the warning relay.
The first press of the RESET button releases the relays and turns the flashing LEDs steady; a second press resets the LEDs and alarm outputs. Latching inputs stay on until reset and non-latching inputs clear when the fault signal is removed. A TEST button activates all alarm LEDs, alarm outputs and relays for a display test. Low and high frequency protections are provided on the AC generator input. The semiconductor outputs are open-collector types that sink current to negative supply, similar to an electronic relay contact, so they can drive distant visual warning lights.
Selection and installation notes
Select the 12 V or 24 V model to match the plant battery, because the unit has different models for 12 and 24 volt systems. Programming is done through the separate DKG-605-P hand terminal unit (six-pin connector); programs are held in non-volatile memory and survive power failures. The unit has a plug-in connection system for easy replacement, survives cranking dropouts and has standard 72 x 72 mm panel dimensions. Use input 8 as the Safety On signal in engine control applications where no generator voltage is available. Note that the datasheet gives older EU directive references; confirm current compliance requirements with your panel builder.
The user manual adds practical installation rules: the unit is not fused, so external 6 A fuses are required on the generator phase G and on battery positive BAT(+); wire with at least 0.75 mm2 cable; always remove the plug connectors when inserting wires with a screwdriver; observe battery polarity because reverse polarity will stop the unit from operating; and the building supply must have short-circuit back-up protection. To enter program mode connect the DKG-605-P hand terminal and press its button: the display shows the program number while the button is held and the value when released, values are changed with RESET (+) and TEST (-), and program mode is cancelled if no key is pressed for 15 seconds. Each input has five parameters (contact type, polarity, detection delay, priority level and latching) that are repeated for inputs 1 to 8, plus global values for the Safety On source and timer and for the frequency delay and limits.
Selection and installation notes
An annunciator is selected from the number of alarm channels, the input type and the outputs it must drive. Set the input polarity, the alarm text and the horn logic at commissioning, test every channel from the field device and check that the acknowledge and test buttons behave as the site procedure requires.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet.
