Enerpac TFA12TEMIN Wind Tower Flange Alignment Tool
Description
TFA12TEMIN is the order code for the Enerpac TFA12TE flange alignment tool kit, a hydraulic tool that hooks into a bolt hole of the upper flange and pushes the lower flange into line. Enerpac positions it for aligning and de-ovalising large flanges and resolving bolt-hole misalignment between wind tower sections, onshore and offshore. The TFA12TE is the external-pump version: an alignment piston with a 65 mm stroke works at up to 510 bar (7400 psi) from a separate hand pump.
Closing flange misalignment before the bolts go in
Ovality, bolt-hole offset and flange gap can make it hard to drop studs through. The TFA tool is installed so the lower flange is closer to the operator and the upper flange further away: its hook seats in the upper bolt hole, its back plate sits flat on the upper flange, and the alignment foot pushes the lower flange across. Once aligned, as many bolts as possible are fitted, and the process repeats around the flange.
The carry case measures 640 x 540 x 165 mm. Enerpac lists the tool alone at 21.1 kg (46.5 lb); the product page lists 28.4 kg (62.6 lb) for the kit.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Aligns and de-ovalises large flanges; resolves bolt-hole misalignment within tower sections.
- Onshore and offshore use; the manual describes sub-sea operation with precautions.
- Wing extension, adjustment leg and cylinder adjustment sleeve adapt the reach to different flange sizes.
- External hand pump gives accurate control of the force; release valve retracts the piston by internal spring.
- Kit includes tool, safety lanyard, instruction manual and carry case.

Selection and ordering guide
The TFA family splits two ways: external pump (TE) and integral hand pump (TI), in 12 and 15 tonne alignment ratings, with RD37H variants for 39 mm bolt holes. This page is the TFA12TE in the kit coded TFA12TEMIN; the manual lists TFA15TEMIN, TFA12TERD37HMIN, TFA15TERD37HMIN and TFA12TISTD as other kit codes. The TFA12TE has the longer wing reach of the two.
Compare the bolt hole diameter (45 mm minimum), the flange thickness against wing reach, and the misalignment you need to correct against the 65 mm maximum. The manual says that if misalignment exceeds the tool capability work must stop; spacers, wedges or timber must never be used between the foot or base plate and the flange face. Confirm whether you need to source the hand pump separately, as it is not itemised in the kit contents.
Installation and operation notes
Before installation, fully retract the adjustment leg, cylinder adjustment sleeve and alignment piston. Turn the knurled foot until it touches the pipe wall, extend the wing so the foot sits between the faces of the lower flange, and turn the sleeve until the foot touches. Check that the tool sits square and the wing is parallel to the pipe wall. Close the pump release valve and pump to advance; open it to retract under spring force.
Always fit and use the safety bond assembly (part 270800-01) when removing the tool, keep hands away from the flange. After use grease moving parts with molybdenum grease, top up only with 15 cSt hydraulic oil, and store the tool in its case. Long-term storage uses a corrosion inhibitor coat and sealed bags with silica gel.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
The tool is aimed at wind tower assembly, so in the GCC it is relevant to wind farm erection and tower maintenance work. The principle of hooking into a bolt hole and pushing a flange also suits other large bolted flanges, but the manual only describes wind tower use. The manual asks for inspection, cleaning and greasing before use, storage or transport, a routine that matters on sandy or salt-laden sites (general note, not a manual statement).
Compatible accessories and related items
Named in the sources: Enerpac HP hand pump (regulated to the correct pressure for the tool), safety bond assembly 270800-01, foot extension, TFA12TI and TFA15TE and TFA15TI variants, and the TFAH12 sub-sea tool.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Enerpac TFA12TEMIN do?
It aligns and de-ovalises large flanges by hooking into an upper bolt hole and pushing the lower flange into position, mainly for wind tower sections.
How much misalignment can it correct?
The manual lists misalignment from 0 to 65 mm, matching the 65 mm alignment piston stroke.
What pump does it need?
An external hand pump up to 510 bar (7400 psi) for the TFA12TE; the manual refers to an Enerpac HP hand pump, but the kit contents list only the tool, lanyard, manual and case.
Can it be used offshore?
Enerpac lists onshore and offshore use, and the manual describes sub-sea procedures with a modified pump configuration; top-side down-line operation of the standard tool is not supported.

Ordering Enerpac products: what we need
Send the Enerpac model number. Otherwise, for torque wrenches give the bolt size and torque, for cylinders and jacks the capacity, stroke and collapsed height, and for pumps the power source, number of outlets and flow. Hydraulic tools must be used with pumps, hoses and gauges rated for the same pressure.
