Brand: Uvex
Uvex i-5 9183041 Welding Safety Glasses Shade 1.7
Description
The Uvex i-5 9183041 is a sporty welding safety spectacle with a grey polycarbonate lens at welding protection level 1.7. The lens carries the uvex infradur plus coating, which minimises damage from welding sparks and is anti-fog on the inside and scratch-resistant outside. The x-tended eyeshield wraps the brow with a soft seal and the x-tended sideshield adds side protection.
Shade 1.7 is a very light filter number. It is meant for people who need some infrared and glare protection near a welding station, not for looking at an electric arc, which needs a welding helmet with a much higher shade. The label states IR protection according to EN 169 together with good colour recognition per EN 172.

Key features from the datasheet
Besides the x-tended eyeshield and sideshield, the datasheet lists side arms with multi-incline points and length adjustment, soft-grip temple ends and a soft, flexible nose pad that adapts to the wearer. The coating prevents fogging and scratching, and an optional clip-in frame seal gives extra protection against particles, dirt and dust. The frame is metal-free.
Reading the marking and shade
The lens marking begins with the filter number 1.7, which is the welding shade under EN 169. W is the manufacturer code, 1 the optical class, F the impact class for 45 m/s, T the extreme-temperature particle test, K scratch resistance and N anti-fog. For electric arc welding the correct shade depends on the process and current and is normally much higher than 1.7, so use a welding helmet or hand shield for arc work and treat the i-5 as secondary eye protection for people working near the weld.
Selection and ordering guide
Quote 9183041 for the shade 1.7 grey lens. Other i-5 lens versions carry different article numbers. The welding site in this catalog also lists welding helmets and torches; eyewear should be chosen together with the helmet and with your task risk assessment, because welding shade must match the process.
Applications in GCC industry
The glasses suit fitters, helpers and inspectors working around fabrication shops, pipe spools, pipeline construction and shutdown welding where reflected light and sparks are present. The page lists the glasses as suitable for environments with a moderate or high level of contamination as well as average humidity, which describes many fabrication yards. Each person should still have the correct primary welding protection for their own task. The infradur plus coating is intended to limit spark damage on the lens, but a pitted lens should be replaced. Hot, humid shops make the anti-fog coating valuable.
Care and use
Clean with water and a soft cloth, inspect before each shift and replace if the lens is pitted or cracked. Keep the CE declaration of conformity from the uvex portal on file.
Selection and use notes
A welding shade of 1.7 is a light filter, so it does not replace the filter needed for the welding process itself. Check the filter against the task, and use the proper welding helmet or shield where arc welding or cutting takes place. Eye protection works only if it fits and is worn. Check the lens marking against the hazard, including the field of use and the filter, choose the fit that seals against the face, clean the lens with the cleaning method on the label and replace the product when it is scratched, cracked or no longer clear.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
