JUMO 902020 Screw-In RTD Probe with Head B

Description

Screw-in RTD probe with form B head and replaceable insert

The JUMO screw-in RTD temperature probe (type 902020, with form B terminal head) measures temperatures in liquids and gases and is chosen where the installation must stay tight under both negative pressure and overpressure. The data sheet names air-conditioning and refrigeration, heater and furnace construction and apparatus engineering.

The standard measuring insert is a replaceable Pt100 to DIN EN 60751 class B in two-wire circuit, with Pt500 or Pt1000, three-wire and four-wire connections, and single or double sensors as options. The probe covers -50 to +600 C and can carry a transmitter in the head. Besides the aluminium form B head, BUZ, BUZH, NS, AB7 and KGI-1 heads are available.

Design choices

The measuring insert can be exchanged without removing the thread, which shortens maintenance. A yellow terminal head marks the SIL or PL versions with extra code 658 or 659, except in alkaline or PWIS-free applications.

A head-mounted transmitter turns the Pt100 into a 4 to 20 mA signal and reduces the allowed head ambient temperature, so check the transmitter data sheet when the process is hot.

Specifying the probe

State the sensor type, tolerance class, circuit, tube diameter and immersion length, thread, head and transmitter. As a derived example, a heater circuit at 120 C with a G1/2 thread suits a 9 mm tube with form B head.

The page uses model-level data; confirm the exact order code, the head temperature and the SIL declaration before ordering. Mount the probe so that the sensing tip sits in the medium and not in a stagnant zone, and keep the extension tube and head outside strong heat radiation. For hot furnaces the head temperature limit of 100 C is the factor that decides the tube length and the use of a cooling neck.

Spare measuring inserts are worth stocking for critical points, because they can be replaced in minutes without draining the line, and the data sheet describes the insert as exchangeable.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
