Brand:

Lenze E82ZAFSC Standard I/O Function Module for 8200 vector

Description

Basic Standard I/O module for terminal control of the 8200 vector

The Lenze E82ZAFSC is the Standard I/O function module in its basic version, that is without the plug-on spring-clamp terminal strip. In the Lenze 8200 vector system the base controller supplies the power stage, and a function module like this one provides the control terminals for start, stop, speed reference and status. Lenze lists the 8200 vector under previous products on its website, so this module belongs to a legacy range; the data below comes from the Lenze catalogue FU 8200 vector en 11/02, and availability or a later edition should be confirmed before ordering.

Preset terminal functions

Terminal 8 takes the speed reference, terminal 62 outputs the output frequency, and terminal 28 is the controller inhibit with 1 meaning start. Inputs E1 and E2 select the fixed frequencies JOG1 at 20 Hz, JOG2 at 30 Hz and JOG3 at 40 Hz, E3 switches on DC braking, and E4 reverses direction of rotation. Output A1 signals ready for operation. Terminals 9 and 20 provide the 5.2 V potentiometer supply and a 20 V source for the digital signals, while 7 and 39 are the isolated GND references.

Basic or PT version

The catalogue lists two orderable forms of the Standard I/O: E82ZAFSC without a terminal strip, and E82ZAFSC010 with the plug-in spring-clamp strip for wire cross-sections of up to 1.5 sq mm without ferrules. The PT strip makes the module project about 13 mm from the front panel. In the catalogue’s quick-selection guides, the PT version E82ZAFSC010 is the module paired with each 8200 vector base controller; confirm the version you need before ordering.

The frequency input option via E1 (and E2 for two-track) applies to 8200 vector hardware of the stated later versions, so check the nameplate of the inverter.

The wiring diagrams show a setpoint potentiometer of 1 to 10 kOhm connected between the 5.2 V supply at terminal 9, the analog input at terminal 8 and the reference at terminal 7. Start and stop use terminal 28, which can be fed from the internal 20 V source or from an external supply of 12 to 30 V DC with up to 120 mA. Plan these connections before cabling the cabinet.

Documents and quotation

The attached Lenze catalogue (FU 8200 vector en 11/02) gives the terminal assignment for internal and external supply. See Automation Accessories for related parts. For a quotation, state the full order code, the inverter type it will be fitted to and the quantity, and confirm the current edition and compatibility with your inverter’s hardware and software version before ordering.

The E82ZAFSC in the 8200 vector Modular Concept

Lenze lists the 8200 vector in the previous products – inverters section of its website. The official page describes a modular frequency inverter for standard applications from 0.25 to 90 kW, with compact dimensions, push-through and cold-plate cooling variants, and pluggable function modules for tailored integration into the machine’s control and automation architecture. Operation is via the plug-in Keypad XT or a PC with the free Global Drive Control easy software.

The E82ZAFSC Standard I/O module is the simplest of those function modules. It plugs into the function module slot on the front of the base controller and supplies the terminals for basic terminal control: one analog setpoint, four digital commands, one analog output and one digital status output. For many pump, fan and conveyor drives this is all the I/O that is needed.

How the Standard I/O Module Works

In a typical E82ZAFSC installation, a potentiometer or a 0–10 V / 4–20 mA signal from a PLC is connected to the analog input and sets the motor speed. Terminal 28 enables the drive, while the digital inputs select fixed speeds, DC braking or reversing. The analog output returns a value such as output frequency to a meter or the PLC, and the digital output signals that the drive is ready. All of these functions are presets and can be reassigned through the Lenze code list using the keypad or PC software.

E82ZAFSC Selection & Ordering Guide

  • Basic or PT version: E82ZAFSC is the basic module without terminal strip; E82ZAFSC010 is the PT version with the plug-in spring-clamp strip. When replacing a module, match the version already fitted so the existing wiring can be reused.
  • I/O count: if you need a second analog input, more digital inputs or a frequency output, look at the Application I/O PT module E82ZAFAC010 instead.
  • Fieldbus: if the drive should be controlled over PROFIBUS-DP, the E82ZAFPC010 function module or an AIF communication module may be the better choice.
  • Inverter version: check the 8200 vector nameplate, since some input functions depend on the hardware version.

Our team can help confirm the correct ordering code if you send us the nameplate data of the inverter and the existing module.

Installation & Maintenance

  • Disconnect the inverter from the mains and wait for the DC bus to discharge before removing or fitting a function module, following the Lenze operating instructions.
  • Use shielded cable for the analog setpoint and connect the shield correctly; keep control cables separate from motor and mains cables.
  • Use the isolated GND references (terminals 7 and 39) as shown in the catalogue wiring diagrams to avoid ground loops.
  • After replacement, check the parameter set and test start, stop, setpoint and status signals before handing the machine back to production.

Typical Applications in Oman & the GCC

The E82ZAFSC is typical on 8200 vector drives for centrifugal pumps, fans and blowers, simple conveyors, agitators and mixers. In Oman and the GCC, these legacy drives are found in HVAC plants of commercial buildings, water and wastewater stations, food and beverage factories, and light manufacturing. Replacing a damaged Standard I/O module is often the quickest way to return an 8200 vector drive to service.

About brand

Lenze is a German company for drive and automation technology for machine building, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Aerzen, Lower Saxony. Its portfolio runs from frequency inverters, servo inverters and motors to controllers, engineering software and digital services.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lenze frequency and servo inverters, including current and earlier generations, for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Lenze product series

Current inverters on this site are the i500 family: the i510 compact frequency inverter, the i550 cabinet inverter and its i550 protec decentral version for mounting on the machine, and the i950 cabinet servo inverter. Earlier generations that are still widely installed are also listed: the 8400 StateLine C inverters (E84AVSC...), the 8200 vector frequency inverters (E82EV...) and the 9300 servo position controllers and servo inverters (EVS93...), including versions with Safe Torque Off.

Where Lenze drives are used

Conveyors and intralogistics, packaging and bottling lines, pumps and fans, hoists, textile and printing machines, and positioning axes on special machines. Many plants in the region keep 8200 vector and 9300 drives in service and need exact replacements or a planned migration to the i500 series.

Ordering Lenze inverters: what we need

Send the complete type code from the nameplate, for example E84AVSCE5524SX0, together with the supply voltage, motor power and current, the control interface or fieldbus module, and any options such as safety functions, keypad or brake resistor. When replacing an installed drive, keep the parameter set and wiring records, because a new unit or a successor model must be parameterised to match the machine.
