Tokyo Keiso SONICMAX UL6300 V2 Clamp-On Ultrasonic Flowmeter
Description
Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter with two-line measurement and HART 7
The Tokyo Keiso SONICMAX UL6300 V2 pairs the UFC300 V2 converter with the UFS6000 V2 clamp-on sensor and uses the time-of-flight principle. Three sensor sizes cover pipes from 15 mm to 4000 mm without touching the fluid, which suits pure water and chemical lines where particles or metal ions must not enter the process.
A stainless-steel sensor rail with an integrated sensor cable makes mounting simpler and the assembly more weather-resistant than earlier Tokyo Keiso designs. The converter works with several sensors and can measure two lines at once, which allows uneven flow in a single stream to be averaged by measuring two paths. Digital signal processing supports low-velocity measurement, and the display offers a bar graph, multi-line readout and a real-time trend screen.

Selecting the sensor and mounting
Sensor choice follows pipe material, nominal size and wall: the catalogue gives selection tables for metallic pipe (stainless steel up to Sch 20 or Sch 40, carbon steel), lined pipe (polyethylene or PVC lined steel) and plastic pipe (PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVDF). Some combinations are marked not applicable, for example small-bore PVC-lined steel, where the gap between lining and steel scatters the signal. Rust inside carbon steel pipe and the zinc layer of SGPW galvanised pipe can make measurement difficult.
For pipe above 2000 mm and for some large-sensor cases the catalogue recommends a trial with a demonstration unit. A connection box and extension cable are added when the sensor cable has to be lengthened.
Functions that matter in service
Standard functions include free measuring units, automatic zero adjustment, bidirectional measurement with a direction signal, self-diagnosis, parameter retention for more than ten years, simulation of current, pulse and status outputs, and infrared touch sensors that allow setting without removing the cover. The converter can also be set with buttons once the cover is open.
How the Tokyo Keiso UL6300 V2 works
Two clamp-on sensors sit on the outside of the pipe. One sends an ultrasonic pulse through the pipe wall and the liquid. The pulse reaches the other sensor faster with the flow than against it. The converter turns that time difference into a flow rate.
