Lovato RGK600 Automatic Mains Failure Gen-Set Controller

Description

Automatic mains failure control for stand-by generators

The RGK600 is an automatic mains failure (AMF) generating set controller from Lovato Electric. It watches the mains supply, starts the engine when the mains fails, transfers the load to the generator and returns it to the mains once the supply has recovered. The same unit also protects the engine and the alternator while it runs, which makes it a common choice for stand-by sets feeding pumps, telecom sites, workshops and commercial buildings.

It is a flush-mount 144 x 144 mm panel unit with a 128 x 80 pixel graphic backlit LCD and front keys for stop, automatic mode and start. A programming port on the front accepts a standard USB or Wi-Fi optical point, so setup and parameter upload do not need access to the rear terminals. Controller sizing for a project usually starts from the number of inputs and outputs and the speed-sensing method, so those items are listed in full below.

Selecting between the RGK6 variants

RGK600 is the base AMF model with magnetic pick-up input. RGK601 adds a CANbus interface for electronic engines, RGK610 adds remote supervision through the expansion modules, and the SA versions (RGK600SA, RGK601SA) are stand-alone controllers without mains monitoring. If the engine is an ECU-controlled unit, check the CAN requirement before choosing between RGK600 and RGK601. Larger sets with more inputs and outputs, IP65 fronts or paralleling duties belong to the RGK700, RGK750, RGK800 and RGK900 groups in the same leaflet.

What to confirm before ordering

Please confirm the battery voltage, whether the engine uses a W terminal, magnetic pick-up or CANbus speed signal, the current transformer ratio on the generator side, and whether an IP65 front is required. Weight is listed as 492 g on the product page and 580 g in the manual, so use the manual figure if packing weight matters. For a different stand-by control platform on the same site, see the Deep Sea Electronics DSE7320, or browse the full generator spare parts and controls category.

How the Lovato RGK600 works

The controller measures the mains voltage and the generator voltage. When the mains fails, it sends a start command to the engine and waits for the generator to stabilise. It then moves the load to the generator. When the mains returns, it moves the load back and stops the engine.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the RGK600

Fit the controller in a 144 x 144 mm panel cut-out and wire the battery, the voltage inputs and the current transformers. Set the parameters through the front programming port, then test the start and transfer sequence with the mains switched off. Check the terminals and the battery supply at regular intervals.
