Reelcraft 5600 OMP 3/8 in. x 30 ft. Oil Hose Reel, 3000 psi
Description
A compact steel reel for the 3/8 in. oil line in a service bay
The Reelcraft 5600 OMP is a Series 5000 premium duty, spring-retractable reel for oil and petroleum fluids. It is sold without hose and is built for a 3/8 in. line of 30 ft, rated 3000 psi at 70 F and up to 210 F. The inlet hose is plumbed into the base so that pulling the hose does not load the swivel.
The series is described by Reelcraft as compact for applications where space is critical. The base plate and upright are 14 gauge steel, the guide arm is 13 gauge and the spool is 16 gauge, all individually powder coated, and the base is robotically welded.
What Reelcraft lists for this reel
- Bent-tube swivel with a smooth hose transition onto the spool, nested inside the spool for protection
- Speed latch that locks the spool in two positions per rotation
- Guide arm with two positions; reel ships in the top-wind position
- Made in the USA, 10 business day estimated lead time on the product page

Reading the model code and picking the hose
In the 5600 OMP code, 5600 is the series and 3/8 in. size, and OMP marks the medium-pressure oil version; the flyer groups the low-pressure OLP reels (500 psi without hose, air and water) and the high-pressure OHP grease reels (5000 psi) beside it. Hose is a separate part: the page lists S16-260043, a 3/8 in. x 30 ft oil/petroleum fluid hose, and the flyer states medium-pressure Series 5000 reels are supplied with SAE 100R1-AT hose when ordered with hose.
Mounting and tensioning from instructions 831-696
The reel has a universal mounting bracket for floor, wall or ceiling. For wall mounting the manual says to mount with the inlet on the right when facing the reel, because the wrong way round can cause latching problems. A flexible hose connection must be used between the inlet and the supply to avoid misalignment and binding.
- Replace hose by winding the spool clockwise until the spring is tight, backing off three turns and latching.
- Spring and bearings are factory lubricated and need no further lubrication.
- Adjust spring tension by adding or removing hose wraps, one at a time; the tech bulletin TB0020 lists required wraps by model.
Where a 30 ft oil reel gets used
Short-run oil reels suit lube bays, gearbox top-up stations, compressor rooms and workshop benches where an operator needs 30 ft of reach without leaving a hose on the floor. In hot climates, check the fluid temperature against the 210 F limit and keep the reel out of direct sun on exposed skids. When used with fuels or solvents, the Reelcraft manuals for other series call for grounded hose and reel, so verify the grounding approach for your fluid.
Parts and accessories on the product page
Listed items include the S16-260043 oil hose, S1-HR1004-3 adjustable bumper stop, S600358 swivel assembly, S32-260043 two-foot inlet hose, S600608 340 degree pivot base and the 600993 or 600626 wall swing bracket. The page also links service videos for guide-arm, latch spring and hose changes, CAD drawings in DXF, PDF, IGS and STP formats, and pressure-drop, flow-rate and material-compatibility charts, which are worth reviewing before choosing a hose for a viscous gear oil at low ambient temperature or for a hot workshop. The 5600 OMP shares its fluid-path and swivel parts with other Series 5000 medium-pressure models, so spares are straightforward.
Selection and installation notes
A hose or cord reel is selected from the fluid or service, the hose size and length, the working pressure and the mounting position. Check that the hose, swivel and fittings are rated for the fluid and the pressure, mount the reel on a solid surface with the bolts and base the maker recommends, set the spring tension with the hose held, guide the hose to the reel without sharp bends and replace the hose at the first sign of wear. Do not use the reel for a fluid it is not rated for.
