Ubiquiti U6-Pro UniFi 6 Pro Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

Description

The Ubiquiti U6-Pro (UniFi 6 Pro) is a ceiling or wall mounted Wi-Fi 6 access point with 4×4 DL/UL MU-MIMO on 5 GHz and 2×2 UL MU-MIMO on 2.4 GHz, a 4.8 Gbps 5 GHz data rate, a single Gigabit RJ45 port powered by PoE, and an IP54 rating. UniFi lists it as a 6-spatial-stream access point for large offices with 140 square metres of coverage.

It measures 197 mm across and 35 mm deep, runs on 13 W and is managed in the UniFi Network application.

A Wi-Fi 6 access point for offices, schools and hospitality

The U6-Pro sits in the middle of the UniFi 6 line: more streams and higher 5 GHz capacity than the Lite, but lower power draw and a Gigabit rather than 2.5 Gigabit uplink compared with the Enterprise. Its datasheet lists 300+ concurrent clients, eight BSSIDs per radio, per-user rate limiting, guest traffic isolation, zero-wait DFS and WPA3. Because UniFi APs are adopted by a UniFi gateway or controller, a site can add access points one at a time without a separate wireless controller license.

How to choose between U6-Pro, U6-LR and U6-Enterprise

Choose the U6-Pro for dense indoor offices where the 5 GHz 4×4 stream count matters. The U6-LR trades the 5 GHz 4×4 DL/UL MU-MIMO strength for a 4×4 2.4 GHz radio at 26 dBm and a larger 185 square metre coverage figure, which suits sites with older 2.4 GHz-only devices. The U6-Enterprise adds a third 6 GHz radio for Wi-Fi 6E clients, a 2.5 GbE port and 600+ clients. Coverage figures in the UniFi tech specs are planning values, not guarantees.

Installation and PoE planning

Mount on the ceiling or a wall with the supplied bracket, run Cat5e or Cat6 from a PoE switch, and adopt the AP from UniFi Network. The 13 W maximum draw fits 802.3at and also 802.3af in most cases, but check your switch port class; the datasheet specifies 44 to 57 V DC input. Place APs in open view, away from metal ceilings and tiles with foil backing. The IP54 rating handles dust and splashes but it is not a licence for full outdoor exposure in direct Gulf sun, so shade it.

Where it fits in the GCC

UniFi access points are widely used by IT integrators for offices, schools, clinics, shops, restaurants and villas in Oman and the GCC. The -30 to 60 C operating range in the datasheet covers hot ceiling voids, which is useful in summer.

PoE budget (derived): twenty units at 13 W maximum need 260 W of switch budget, which is why a large site should be matched with a high-budget switch rather than a small one.

Selection and installation notes

Plan a wireless network from a site survey, not from the data sheet range alone. Walls, floors and metal structures reduce coverage, so place access points at the centre of the area they serve, away from obstacles, and set the channels and power so that neighbouring units do not interfere. Confirm the PoE standard and the switch budget, the number of clients and the management platform, and change the default passwords at commissioning.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand

Networking and physical security make up the Ubiquiti business, and the UniFi line is the part most buyers ask for: Wi-Fi access points, switches, cloud gateways and video recorders managed from one UniFi application.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists these products on request, each page carrying the manufacturer's datasheet and no price.

Ubiquiti UniFi product families

The access points listed are the U6-Pro, U6-Enterprise (Wi-Fi 6E) and U6-LR. Switching covers the USW-Lite-16-PoE, USW-Flex, USW-Pro-48-PoE and the USW-Pro-Aggregation with SFP+ and SFP28 ports. The UDM-Pro and UDR are cloud gateways, and the UNVR records video for UniFi Protect cameras.

Where Ubiquiti equipment is used

Typical uses are offices, schools, clinics, hotels, warehouses and villas that need managed Wi-Fi, PoE switching and a gateway in one ecosystem, with a recorder where cameras are added and a single application for monitoring every device on the site.
