KROHNE OPTIMASS 2400 High-Capacity Coriolis Mass Flowmeter

Description

Highest-capacity Coriolis meter for bulk and custody transfer

The KROHNE OPTIMASS 2400 is described by the manufacturer as the world highest capacity Coriolis mass flowmeter for liquids and gases. Its twin or four straight tube design handles flow rates up to 2,300,000 kg/h, and it is aimed at bunkering, custody transfer and fiscal metering in the oil and gas industry, as well as bulk handling of chemicals, syrups and milk. The Entrained Gas Management function keeps the meter running when air or gas bubbles pass through a liquid, and Bluetooth gives a secure wireless link for commissioning, verification and diagnostics within about 20 m.

Accuracy is +/-0.1 percent of measured value, with an optional +/-0.05 percent, and the highest OIML class of 0.3 is listed for custody transfer. Integral pressure compensation supports flow and density measurement. The sensor is made of duplex or super duplex stainless steel, flanges run from DN100 to DN400, and a marine version exists for ship bunkering.

Applications named

Oil and gas uses include crude oil and hydrocarbon fiscal metering, pipeline measurement, metering skids, bulk loading, in-line density and net oil and water cut. Marine bunkering of ship fuels has its own version, and mining and food plants use it for high volume slurries and syrups.

A single large meter can replace a bank of smaller ones, which cuts pipework, pressure drop and the number of verification points on a loading skid.

Before you request a quote

State the line size, flow range, fluid, viscosity, pressure, temperature and custody-transfer authority. The data sheet gives zero-stability figures per size, for example below 7 kg/h for the S100 size, which set the lowest usable flow at a given accuracy.

The hosted TD is dated 2014 (R01), so request the latest revision, the converter options and the approval list for the exact order code. A derived note: heavy sensors need proper pipe supports and straight lengths are not required for the meter itself.

About brand

KROHNE is the German flow and level measurement company founded in Duisburg in 1921 as Ludwig Krohne & Sohn. Its first customers were Ruhr steel producers, for whom it built variable area flowmeters. KROHNE dates the first electromagnetic flowmeter for industrial process measurement to 1952. It is still family-owned and headquartered in Duisburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list KROHNE electromagnetic, Coriolis, ultrasonic and variable area flowmeters, radar level transmitters and flow computers, and supply them to water utilities, oil and gas and process plants in Oman and the GCC by order code.

The flowmeter principle follows the medium. Electromagnetic meters need a conductive liquid, have no moving parts and no pressure loss, and suit water and slurries. Coriolis meters measure mass flow and density directly, so they work for hydrocarbons and non-conductive liquids. Ultrasonic meters handle gas and large pipes, and multi-path designs such as the ALTOSONIC V12 are used for custody transfer. Variable area meters need no power at all and give a simple local reading.

Where KROHNE instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, KROHNE flowmeters and level transmitters are used in water transmission and distribution, desalination, wastewater, oil and gas production and fiscal metering, refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, and power stations.

Ordering KROHNE instruments: what we need

Send the complete KROHNE order code or the nameplate data. For a new meter, send the medium, the flow range, pressure and temperature, the pipe size and flange rating, the liner and electrode materials (for electromagnetic meters), the output and communication, and the hazardous area classification.
