Donaldson P-PT 0007-0021 Stainless Steel Liquid Filter Housing

Description

A 316L stainless steel single-round filter housing for process liquids, 7 to 21 gpm

The Donaldson P-PT is a single round filter housing in 316L stainless steel for water and corrosive liquids. The single nut closure gives a positive radial seal and easy element replacement, and the T-style in-line orientation eases installation. Connections are NPT, flange or Tri-Clamp.

Standard housings accept Code 7 and Code 2 elements, and Code 3, Code 8 and DOE versions are also offered. Applications named in the sheet are petrochemicals, process water, coolants, solvents, potable liquids and industrial water.

This page summarises the manufacturer sheet for quick reference. Compare the figures with your drawing, the existing nameplate and the operating conditions of the installation, and tell us anything that differs so the correct variant can be confirmed in writing before any order is placed.

Dimensions shown are for the 3/4 inch NPT versions; the flange and Tri-Clamp housings are wider (198 and 145 mm). Each housing takes one element.

Specifying the housing

The filter head is bead-blasted cast stainless steel and the bowl is industrial electropolished on the Code 2, 7, 3 and 8 housings (polished on the DOE versions). The sheet notes that a broad selection of elements is available to meet the compatibility and micron requirements of the process.

The two pressure statements for flange and Tri-Clamp housings differ inside the sheet (10.35 bar and 20.7 bar), so confirm the design pressure for the connection you need before ordering. State the model, connection, gasket material and element code.

The housing is built for industrial duty. The T-style in-line orientation places the inlet and outlet on the same axis, so the housing can be dropped into a straight pipe run. Mounting holes of 1/4-20 x 3/8 inch deep are provided for the brackets. Inlet and outlet gauge ports of 6 mm (1/4 inch) FNPT are supplied plugged, and the 1/4 inch NPT drain is plugged, so a differential pressure gauge can be added later. Approximate weights without an element run from 3.2 kg for the 0007 NPT housing to 7.3 kg for the 0021 flange housing.

About brand

Donaldson is the American filtration company founded in Minnesota in 1915. It started when Frank Donaldson Sr. built an air cleaner for a tractor engine that kept failing in dusty fields. It is now headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, and makes filters and filtration systems for engines, hydraulics, compressed air and gases, dust collection and process liquids.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Donaldson compressed air dryers and filters, gas filter housings, activated carbon adsorbers, hydraulic and fuel filtration and dust collectors, and supply them and their replacement elements in Oman and the GCC.

Milestones

  • 1915: Frank Donaldson Sr. builds an air cleaner for a tractor that kept failing in a dusty field; the family starts Donaldson Company in Minnesota.
  • 1917: Air cleaners are supplied for artillery tractors.
  • 1920s: Exhaust products are added after crop fires caused by engine sparks.
  • 1974: Donaldson acquires Torit, the dust collector business.
  • 2015: The company marks its 100th year.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.

Where Donaldson products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Donaldson filters and dryers are used for instrument and plant air in oil and gas, refining, power and desalination plants, for breathing air, in food and pharmaceutical production, on hydraulic systems and fuel storage, and in cement and bulk handling.

Ordering Donaldson products: what we need

Send the model and size from the nameplate. For dryers and filters, add the flow (m³/h or scfm), working pressure, inlet temperature, required dew point or ISO 8573-1 class, and the supply voltage. For replacement elements, send the element part number or the housing model.
