Brand: Streamlight
Streamlight 3AA HAZ-LO ATEX Zone 0 Headlamp
Description
A long-running headlamp for hands-free work in explosive atmospheres
The Streamlight 3AA HAZ-LO ATEX headlamp is a single-beam LED headlight built for Zone 0 work. Three AA alkaline cells give 270 measured lumens, 5,600 candela and a 150 m beam, and run for 8 hours to the 10% level. That is a useful working beam for tank entry, vessel inspection and maintenance on live process areas where both hands must stay free.
The package includes an elastic head strap and a rubber hard-hat strap, so the same unit works bare-headed or on a helmet. A rubber-dome push button switches the light on and off and stays usable with heavy gloves. The case is an impact-resistant engineered resin in international safety orange, with an O-ring sealed polycarbonate lens.

What the op is marking adds
In the marking Ex ia op is IIC T3 Ga, the extra op is indicates that the optical radiation of the LED is also assessed for safety in an explosive atmosphere under the inherently safe optical radiation concept. The T3 class means a maximum surface temperature of 200 C, which leaves less margin than the T4 lights in this range, so compare it with the ignition temperatures of the gases named in your site classification.
The operating instructions note that the LED cannot be removed and that batteries are replaced by unscrewing the battery cap, removing the old cells and inserting three new AA alkaline cells. The LED emission is classed RG-2, and the manual warns users not to stare into the beam.
Fitting the headlamp to the job
At 202 g with cells and strap, this is a heavier head-borne load than the AAA-powered Enduro Pro. The trade is more light and a longer throw: 270 lumens with a 150 m beam against 160 to 235 lumens for the Enduro Pro. Choose the 3AA where distance viewing matters, such as scanning a pipe rack, and the Enduro Pro where spot and flood modes or a lighter head are preferred.
No optional accessories are listed on the fact sheet, so spare straps and cells should be sourced to the same specification as the original package.
Features and construction
The housing is an impact-resistant engineered resin with an O-ring seal for weather resistance, and Streamlight states it was tested to a 1 m drop. The parabolic reflector delivers an even beam with long throw, and the rubber-dome switch is intended for use with heavy gloves. The product page lists CE conformity, RoHS compliance, the ATEX marking and an INMETRO certificate for the same marking, and Streamlight offers a limited lifetime warranty. The manufacturer provides the ATEX certificate, the fact sheet, the information sheet with part numbers and the product instructions as downloads.
Typical applications
- Inspection and maintenance in tanks, vessels and pipe racks where flammable gas or vapour may be present
- Work at oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery and storage sites, where both hands are needed on tools or ladders
- Shutdown and turnaround crews working at night or in poorly lit confined areas
- Emergency response and hazardous materials teams needing a head-worn light
Reading the ATEX marking
In II 1G Ex ia op is IIC T3 Ga, the group II is for surface industries as opposed to mines, category 1G is for equipment suited to gas atmospheres where a hazard is present continuously or for long periods (Zone 0), and Ex ia is the highest level of intrinsic safety protection. IIC is the gas group with the most easily ignited gases, such as hydrogen and acetylene, and Ga is the equipment protection level for Zone 0. T3 is the temperature class. The X at the end of the certificate number means special conditions of use apply, so read the certificate and the operating instructions before the lamp enters a classified area.
Safe use and care
- Change the batteries only outside the hazardous area, and use only the cells named in the instructions.
- Do not mix new and used batteries, or different brands, in the same lamp.
- Inspect the lens, O-ring and housing for cracks or damage; remove a damaged lamp from service.
- Do not look directly into the beam, as the manual classes the LED as RG-2.
- Do not modify the lamp or attempt to remove the LED.
- Rinse with fresh water after exposure to salt spray or chemicals and store in a cool dry place; leaving the lamp in a car in the summer sun can shorten battery life.
Information needed for a quotation
- Item number and quantity
- Zone, gas group and temperature class of the site
- Type of helmet to be used with the rubber hard-hat strap
- Certificate copies or documents required with delivery
- Delivery location in Oman or the GCC
Documents and quotation
This page carries the manufacturer’s fact sheet and its information sheet listing the item numbers, and the operating instructions. Confirm the Zone, gas group and T3 temperature class against your site classification, and that the ATEX item (not the Division 1 yellow model) is the one required. For pricing, state the item number, the number of headlamps and the helmet type they will be worn on. The Electrical & Power category lists related equipment.

About brand
Streamlight is a manufacturer of professional flashlights, headlamps, lanterns and scene lights based in Eagleville, Pennsylvania, USA. The company traces its current form to 1973 and describes more than 50 years of designing, manufacturing and marketing durable lighting for firefighting, industrial, law enforcement, military, automotive and outdoor users.
Hazardous-area and industrial lighting
The international safety-rated range includes ATEX and IECEx certified flashlights, headlamps and lanterns, among them the ProPolymer HAZ-LO flashlights, the Dualie dual-beam lights, the Survivor right-angle lights and the Vulcan lanterns. Marking, zone, gas group and temperature class differ by model and by the battery fitted, so the certificate and product label should be checked against the classification of the area. Rechargeable work lights, lanterns and tripod scene lights for unclassified areas complete the range.
Requesting a quote for Streamlight lights
Send the five-digit item number with the supply voltage or plug type, the quantity and, for hazardous-area lights, the zone and gas group. Item numbers vary by voltage, colour and package, so the exact number avoids ordering the wrong version.
