Winsonic NE11003-20844B 8-Port Gigabit + 4 Combo Managed PoE Switch

Description

A twelve-port managed PoE switch for camera and access-point clusters

The NE11003-20844B is an industrial-grade managed PoE switch with eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, four Gigabit combo ports and a console port. Ports 1 to 8 deliver power over Ethernet at up to 30 W each. The datasheet heading names it an industrial fast ring managed PoE switch, and it is described as fanless with lightning and static protection.

The PoE budget is 185 W against a 200 W power supply rating, so a full set of eight powered devices needs attention to the total: eight devices at 30 W would exceed the budget, while eight IP cameras at around 15 W sit comfortably inside it. The four combo ports give a choice of copper or fibre uplinks and are the usual way to chain a second cabinet or reach the control room.

Eight PoE ports within a 185 W budget cover a typical perimeter or yard camera layout. The datasheet states that data and power reach 100 metres, which is the standard Ethernet limit. Because ports 1 to 8 carry PoE while the four combo ports do not, cameras and access points go on the numbered copper ports and the combo ports are kept for uplinks and non-powered devices.

Choosing the NE11003 and planning the power budget

Use this switch where powered endpoints cluster within 100 m: CCTV cameras along a perimeter, wireless access points on a plant, or IP phones and intercoms in a station. Use the 185 W budget as the design limit rather than 8 x 30 W. The supply must be 48 to 57 V DC, which is different from the non-PoE siblings that accept 12 to 55 V.

For a smaller four-port unit see the NE11005-20442A, and for 10G uplinks and Layer 3 routing see the NE11001-30844A. Source the copper or fibre combo uplink according to the distance; the datasheet lists multimode and single-mode media for 1000BASE-X. Dimensions of 145 x 109 x 62 mm allow DIN-rail or wall mounting inside compact enclosures. The pin table shows PoE on Mode A only.

A practical design method is to list every powered device and its rated draw, add the total, and keep it below 185 W with a margin of about twenty per cent for start-up peaks. Use the PoE scheduling function if devices such as lighting-linked cameras only need power at set hours, and use alive checking so the switch restarts a powered device that stops responding, which saves a site visit at unmanned locations. The surge rating of 2 kV differential and 4 kV common mode is for the data lines, so outdoor camera runs still need appropriate external protection.

Because the switch is managed, VLANs can separate camera, access-point and control traffic, and storm suppression helps contain faults. The one-click ring function allows two or more units to be chained in a loop, with spanning tree and ERPS available for more advanced topologies. Keep the console cable for first set-up, then use the web interface or SSH.

About brand

Rail-grade Ethernet switches with M12 connectors, industrial cellular routers and panel PCs are the Winsonic products buyers ask us for most. Winsonic is known as a maker of industrial LCD monitors and touch displays, and the products listed here add networking and computing hardware for places where office equipment does not survive: trains and buses, roadside cabinets, pump stations and factory floors.

Seven Star LLC is the Winsonic agency for Oman and the GCC and lists Winsonic EN 50155 switches, 4G and 5G routers and gateways, SFP transceivers, panel PCs and rack mount monitors.

Winsonic product families

The M12 switches on this page are specified to EN 50155, the standard for electronic equipment on rail vehicles. Listed models include the L2 managed NE10002 and the NE10003 in IP68 housings, the unmanaged NE10004 with 10G ports and IP65 sealing, the unmanaged NE10005 and the 5-port IP68 NE10006, with PoE+ or PoE++ ports depending on the model. On the cellular side the listing covers NE24 series industrial cellular routers and edge gateways, the NE20001 vehicle-grade 5G transit gateway and the NE31001 outdoor LTE-A router. WSFP Gigabit SFP transceivers provide the fiber uplinks. Computing and display products include the PZB zero bezel panel PC and the RM rack mount monitor, next to the flush mount and zero bezel LCD monitors Winsonic builds for industrial use.

Where Winsonic equipment is used

Typical uses are on-board networks for trains, metro cars and buses, wayside cabinets, traffic management, remote pump stations and water plants, energy metering at unmanned sites, and machine monitoring and operator stations in factories.
