Brand: Rotork
Rotork Fairchild Model 66 Pneumatic Stainless Steel Regulator
Description
The Rotork Fairchild Model 66 is a stainless steel pneumatic regulator for corrosive surroundings and wide temperature swings. Where the aluminum Fairchild regulators would be attacked by salt air, process fumes or washdown, the Model 66 offers a stainless body, Viton elastomers and Teflon-faced trim, together with a large control diaphragm that Rotork says increases sensitivity. It is rated for supply pressures up to 500 psig and for ambient temperatures from minus 20 to plus 300 degF.
Operating principle
When the range screw is set, the range spring pushes down on the control diaphragm and opens the supply valve. Output pressure flows to the outlet port and, through the aspirator tube, to the control chamber under the diaphragm. At the setpoint the spring force and the output pressure force balance and the supply valve closes. If the output rises above the setpoint the diaphragm assembly lifts, closes the supply valve and opens the exhaust valve, so the excess leaves through the side vent. The aspirator compensates downstream pressure droop under flow, and the separate control chamber keeps the diaphragm out of the main flow to avoid hunting and buzzing.

Catalog number choices
The ordering information on the datasheet builds the number from the model, a range digit, a port size digit and several letters:
- Port thread: N NPTF, U BSPT, H BSPP; elastomer: J fluorocarbon
- Actuator: K knob adjust or S screw
- Relief: R relieving, N non-relieving, or A non-relieving with aluminum bonnet
- Vent: S straight or E tapped exhaust
- Mounting: N none or P panel mounting
Note that the non-relieving option with the aluminum bonnet is the only variant that uses the extra mounting holes shown on the outline drawing, and that this bonnet is aluminum rather than stainless steel.
Selection notes
The Model 66 trades flow for corrosion resistance: its 17 SCFM capacity and 1 inch water column sensitivity are lower than the aluminum Model 10 (40 SCFM, 1/8 inch). It therefore suits offshore, chemical and marine duties where body material governs the choice. Before ordering confirm the range, port size and thread, the relief type, the vent arrangement, and that Viton is compatible with the gas or air quality in your system. Fairchild instruction IS-10000066 covers installation and maintenance.

About brand
Electric valve actuators are what most engineers picture when they hear the name Rotork, a company founded in 1957 and based in Bath, United Kingdom. Its catalog also reaches into pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, control valve actuators and instrument-air accessories.
Seven Star LLC lists Rotork actuators, positioners and precision regulators and supplies them to operators and valve shops in Oman, with the actuator build checked against the manufacturer's documentation.
Rotork product families on this page
The IQ3 is the intelligent multi-turn electric actuator for gate, globe and sluice valves, and the IQT3 is its part-turn counterpart for ball, butterfly and plug valves. For control valves there are the CVA and CMA electric actuators, built for continuous modulating duty. The Skilmatic SI3 is a self-contained electro-hydraulic actuator used where a fail-safe stroke is required. On the fluid power side the page lists GP/GH scotch yoke pneumatic and hydraulic actuators and the CP compact pneumatic quarter-turn unit. Two instrument brands sold under the Rotork name complete the list: Fairchild, with the Model 1000 no-bleed precision regulator, and YTC, with the YT-1000 electro-pneumatic and YT-3300 smart positioners.
Where Rotork actuators are used
Typical duties are isolation and block valves on pipelines and tank farms, motor-operated valves in refineries and power plants, sluice gates and large butterfly valves in water and wastewater works, and emergency shutdown valves on oil and gas facilities across the GCC.
Ordering Rotork actuators and parts: what we need
For an existing unit, send the serial number and the wiring diagram number from the nameplate; these two identify the exact build. For a new selection we need the valve type and size, torque or thrust, stem or shaft details, operating time, supply voltage, phase and frequency, the hazardous area certification, and any bus or remote control option. For pneumatic units add the air supply pressure and the fail position.
