NOSHOK 400/500 Series All-Stainless Steel Pressure Gauge

Description

All-stainless pressure gauges, dry or liquid filled, for corrosive plant

The NOSHOK 400/500 Series is a corrosion-resistant dial pressure gauge with a stainless steel case and 316 stainless steel wetted parts. The 400 series is dry and fillable, the 500 series is glycerin filled to damp vibration, and gauge sizes are 1-1/2, 2-1/2, 4 and 6 inch. Ranges run through vacuum and compound ranges up to 0-20,000 psi.

The measuring element is a 316 stainless steel C-type Bourdon tube on every model, with a coiled safety tube above 600 psi on 2-1/2 inch and larger gauges. Accuracy is +/-2.5% on the 1-1/2 inch gauges, +/-1.6% on 2-1/2 inch and +/-1% on 4 and 6 inch sizes.

Order code explained

Example: 40-500-600-psi-1/4-MIP means 4 inch gauge, case type 500 (SS case, liquid filled, bottom connection), 0-600 psi, a 1/4 inch NPT connection (only added when non-standard) and the maximum indicating pointer option. Case types: 400 all stainless dry/fillable bottom, 401 dry bottom, 402 solid front dry, 410 back connection, 411 dry back, 500 filled bottom, 502 solid front filled and 510 filled back. Scale options are psi, psi/kPa, psi/kg/cm2 and psi/bar. Ammonia gauges are available in the vacuum/compound ranges by adding -AMMONIA. Options include front, rear and ring flanges, panel mount clamps, adjustable pointer, red set pointer, safety glass lens, laser marking and 0.5 or 0.8 mm threaded orifices.

Selection notes

  • Choose liquid filled (500) for pulsation or vibration; choose dry (400) for hot media up to 200 C or where fill is not allowed.
  • Keep normal working pressure below 60 percent of range when pulsating and below 90 percent when static, per the datasheet.
  • For oxygen service the datasheet notes cleaning for oxygen is available on dry or HL filled gauges.
  • Specify a threaded orifice (ST5 or ST8) to damp pulsation on pump discharge.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

The datasheet lists chemical processing, oil field and offshore, paper mills, agriculture, marine and water and wastewater. In coastal GCC plants the stainless case resists salt-laden air, and the glycerin fill handles compressor and pump vibration. The 392 F media limit applies to dry gauges only.

Understanding the case types and fill

Case type is the first thing to settle. The 400 and 410 types are all stainless and dry but fillable, so you can add fill later on site, while 401 and 411 are dry only. The 402 and 502 types are the solid front versions, and the 500 and 510 types come glycerin filled. The 1-1/2 inch size is available only as the 401 and 411 dry gauges and the 4 inch 20,000 psi range only with a solid front case. Back connection (410, 411, 510) is for panel mounting, with front, rear and ring flange kits for the 25, 40 and 60 sizes. The ammonia version is limited to the vacuum and compound ranges listed, and is ordered by adding -AMMONIA to the part number. The temperature note matters in hot sites: for every 10 C shift from the calibration temperature, up to 0.4 percent additional error can appear.

Selection and installation notes

A pressure instrument is selected from the pressure range, the process media and the connection. Choose a range so that the normal operating pressure lies in the middle of the scale, check that the wetted materials suit the fluid, use the correct seal and thread, fit an isolation valve or snubber where pulsation or surges occur and mount the instrument where it can be read and serviced. Never exceed the overpressure limit on the data sheet, and keep a record of calibration.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand

NOSHOK is an American manufacturer of pressure, temperature and flow instruments, established in 1967 and based in Berea, Ohio. It was one of the first companies to offer liquid-filled pressure gauges, introduced a troubleshooter pointer and stainless steel connections on its gauges, and has offered a three-year gauge warranty since 1973. In 2019 NOSHOK acquired King Engineering, maker of KING-GAGE.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list NOSHOK gauges, transmitters and valves for oil and gas, water and process users in Oman and the GCC.
