Kärcher HDS-E 8/16-4 M 36 kW Electric Hot Water Cleaner
Description
Exhaust-free hot water for enclosed and indoor cleaning bays
The Kärcher HDS-E 8/16-4 M 36 kW is an electrically heated hot water high-pressure cleaner. Instead of a fuel-fired burner it heats the water with a 36 kW electric heating system, which Kärcher lists as exhaust-free and calls the most powerful model in its class.
Without a fired burner there is no burner exhaust to vent and no fuel to store, which simplifies installation in enclosed workshops, service bays and indoor washdown rooms. The trade-off is the electrical load: Kärcher prints a connected load of 41.5 kW at 400 V, so the building supply must be sized for it.

Temperature behaviour and equipment
Kärcher describes a large water reservoir with a maximum of 85 °C. Under full load the machine delivers up to 58 °C in continuous operation, or 80 °C with Servo Control, a function Kärcher describes as delivering a significantly higher water temperature to the accessories.
The delivery includes an EASY!Force Advanced gun, a 10 m high-pressure hose (DN 6, 250 bar), a 1050 mm lance and a power nozzle. Equipment printed in the sheet covers exhaust-free electric heating, a control bar with display light, pressure cut-off, two detergent tanks and Servo Control.

Electric or fuel-fired hot water
Choose electric heating when exhaust, fuel handling and burner servicing are the problem and a 41.5 kW three-phase supply is available. Choose a fuel-fired HDS when the site has limited electrical capacity or needs water above 85 °C. The comparison table uses Kärcher figures.

Selecting the HDS-E 8/16-4 M for a washdown bay
Start the selection from the cleaning task rather than from the heating output. The adjustable flow range of 300 – 760 l/h and the working pressure range of 30 – 160 bar cover general workshop cleaning, vehicle and equipment washdown, and degreasing of machine parts where hot water shortens the job and reduces the amount of detergent needed. Where the work is dominated by heavy oil and grease and the operator wants water hotter than the electric model can deliver, the fuel-fired machines in the comparison table are the more appropriate starting point.
The second check is the site electrical capacity. A three-phase 400 V, 50 Hz supply able to carry the printed 41.5 kW connected load is a fixed requirement, and on many existing workshops it is the deciding factor. It is worth reviewing the load of other equipment that runs on the same distribution board at the same time, because a cleaner of this size is a significant consumer in a typical service building.
Installation and commissioning practice
Position the machine on a level, drained floor with enough space around it for the operator to reach the control bar, refill the two detergent tanks and handle the 10 m high-pressure hose without kinking it. Keep the 5 m power cable away from standing water and traffic routes, and have the supply terminated by a qualified electrician in line with local wiring regulations and the Kärcher operating manual. Connect a clean water supply with adequate flow and pressure, since the heating figures quoted by Kärcher are based on a defined supply temperature.
At commissioning, run the machine with cold water first to confirm flow, spray pattern and the pressure cut-off behaviour when the gun is released, then switch on the heating and confirm the water temperature at the lance. Kärcher states that the machine requires instruction, so plan a handover session for every operator who will use it and keep the operating manual with the machine.
Operation and routine care
Use the lowest pressure and temperature that do the job, and select Servo Control only when the higher water temperature is actually needed at the accessory. Check the high-pressure hose, gun and lance for damage before each shift, and do not use a hose that shows cuts, bulges or leaking connections. Use only detergents approved for the machine and follow the dosing instructions. Periodic servicing should follow the Kärcher maintenance schedule and be carried out by trained personnel.
Operating in GCC heat, dust and humidity
In Oman and the wider GCC, washdown bays are often semi-open and hot. Keep the machine out of direct sun where possible, keep the area around it clear of dust and wash residue, and avoid leaving it standing in water. Higher ambient and supply water temperatures change the starting point for heating, so confirm actual outlet temperature on site rather than assuming catalogue values. In humid coastal locations, regular cleaning and inspection of the electrical connection area is good practice.
What to include in your RFQ
To get an accurate quotation, include the order number 1.030-906.0, the quantity, the available supply voltage and capacity at the installation point, the cleaning application, the expected daily operating hours, and whether any of the listed accessories are required. Mention any site-specific requirements for documentation or inspection so they can be addressed in the offer.
Documents and quotation
The Kärcher product information sheet is attached as the datasheet. Before ordering, have an electrician confirm that the supply, cable and breaker can carry 41.5 kW at 400 V, and confirm the water inlet temperature and quantity used in the heating calculation.
See the wider range of pumps and pressure equipment on our catalogue, or send the model name and order number for a quotation.
