Kärcher HDS 7/16 C Compact Hot Water High-Pressure Cleaner
Description
Compact hot water cleaning that fits through a workshop door
The Kärcher HDS 7/16 C is a three-phase hot water high-pressure cleaner in the compact class, with eco!efficiency mode and an integrated fuel and detergent tank. At 98 kg with accessories and 1060 x 650 x 920 mm it is far easier to move around a plant than the 1330 mm middle- and super-class machines.
Kärcher prints a flow of 270 to 660 litres per hour, a working pressure of 30 to 160 bar and a maximum water temperature of 80 °C. That is the right scale for vehicle workshops, equipment depots, kitchens and maintenance areas where oil and grease must be removed regularly but the very large burners of the bigger HDS models are not required.

User-friendly operation and equipment
Kärcher lists eco!efficiency mode as a way to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20 percent during longer periods of use, a large single-button selector switch for intuitive operation, a large tank opening with filling chute and a system care bottle that can be changed from the outside.
The delivery includes an EASY!Force Advanced gun, a 1050 mm lance, a power nozzle and a 10 m high-pressure hose specified as DN 6 and 250 bar. The machine also has a Soft Damping System, a pressure cut-off and an integrated fuel and detergent tank. Storage is covered by a lockable accessory compartment, hooks for cable and hose and an integrated lance holder for transport.

Where the compact class stops and the larger HDS starts
If the cleaning task needs more than 80 °C water, more than about 660 l/h or heavy continuous duty, move up to the middle- or super-class HDS. The table shows the progression with printed values.
| Kärcher model | Flow rate (l/h) | Working pressure (bar) | Water temperature | Drive and load |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HDS 7/16 C (this page) | 270 – 660 | 30 – 160 | max. 80 °C | Electric, 4.7 kW, 98 kg |
| HDS-E 8/16-4 M 36 kW | 300 – 760 | 30 – 160 | min. 58 – max. 85 °C | Electric heating, 41.5 kW, 123.5 kg |
| HDS 10/21-4 M | 500 – 1000 | 30 – 210 | min. 80 – max. 155 °C | Electric, 8 kW, 160.2 kg |

Setting up the HDS 7/16 C in a wash bay
Place the cleaner on a firm, level floor where it cannot roll into the spray area, and where exhaust from the burner can escape freely. A hot water cleaner burns fuel oil, so it should not be run in a closed room without the ventilation Kärcher calls for in the operating manual. Have a qualified electrician confirm that the 400 V three-phase socket, the protective earth and the upstream protection suit the 4.7 kW connected load, and keep the 5 m power cable out of standing water.
Connect a water supply that can deliver at least the maximum flow the machine needs, using clean water so that debris does not reach the pump. Lay the high-pressure hose without kinks or sharp bends and keep it away from hot surfaces and vehicle wheels. Fill the fuel tank with the fuel type named in the manual only, and use detergents approved for the machine in the detergent tank.
First start and daily checks
On first use, run the cleaner with cold water until air has been purged from the pump and hose, then switch to hot water operation and check for leaks at the gun, lance and hose connections. Confirm that the pressure cut-off stops the pump when the trigger is released. Before each shift, check fuel and detergent levels, the condition of the hose and the nozzle, and the water supply. Operators should receive the instruction the product sheet refers to, and wear the eye protection, gloves and footwear required by the site.
Working in Oman’s heat, dust and hard water
Many water supplies in Oman and the wider Gulf are hard or carry dissolved salts, which promote scale inside heated water systems. Keep the system care bottle filled and follow Kärcher’s guidance on water quality; where the supply is particularly hard, discuss water treatment with the site. Store fuel in a shaded, ventilated place and refuel only with the burner off and cooled. In dusty yards, keep the machine covered with the tank caps closed when idle, and check that the burner air intake is clean. Avoid leaving the cleaner in direct sun for long periods, which heats tanks and hoses.
Maintenance to keep the burner efficient
Follow the maintenance intervals in the Kärcher manual and record the work done. Typical routine tasks include checking and cleaning water inlet filters, inspecting hoses and nozzles for wear, and checking the burner for soot or uneven flame, which indicates that service is due. A worn nozzle lowers cleaning pressure, so replace it with the matching size from the accessory list. Have burner and electrical service carried out by trained personnel.
Documents and quotation
The Kärcher product information sheet is attached as the datasheet. Before ordering, check the 400 V three-phase supply, fuel storage and the ventilation of the cleaning bay, and confirm the nozzle and lance set required for the surfaces being washed.
