STEGO KTO 111 Thermostat NC 0-60 C 11100.0-00

Description

11100.0-00 is the STEGO KTO 111 thermostat, a normally closed bimetal switch with a setting range of 0 to 60 C. It switches AC 250 V at 10(2) A, uses push-in terminals and measures 33 x 60 x 41 mm at 40 g.

A compact bimetal thermostat that switches an enclosure heater

The KTO 111 is a mechanical thermostat for enclosure heating. Its contact is normally closed, so it keeps the heater circuit on until the set temperature is reached and opens it above that point. The bimetal element acts with snap action, which gives a defined switching point without electronics.

The datasheet gives a switching differential of 7 K with a tolerance of 4 K, which should be considered when a tight control band is needed. It is rated for more than 100,000 switching cycles and an ambient range of -45 to +80 C.

Selection and ordering guide

STEGO describes the device as a mechanical NC thermostat that opens when the temperature rises and is used to control heaters, or to switch signal transmitters when the temperature falls below the set value. The push-in terminals prevent the supply lines from coming loose and allow tool-free connection, and a large adjustment wheel makes setting easy.

The normally closed contact makes this variant suitable for heater control. For cooling or filter-fan control STEGO lists the normally open sister series, so confirm which function is needed before ordering.

Pick 11100.0-00 for a general 0 to 60 C range, 11100.0-01 where the setpoint sits below freezing, and 11100.0-02 only when the load is within 3 A. Fahrenheit-scale variants carry the .9 suffix.

Installation and operation notes

In the STEGO connection example the line conductor L goes to terminal 1 and terminal 2 feeds the heater. Use the push-in terminals for the conductors stated on the datasheet.

Mount the thermostat where it senses representative enclosure air, away from the heater outlet. With the 7 K differential, allow for the band when setting the heater switch-off point.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Heater control in outdoor control cabinets, junction boxes, metering kiosks and panels exposed to condensation.

It is used with fan heaters and convection heaters from the same range, where a simple mechanical thermostat is preferred over an electronic one.

Selection and maintenance notes

A normally closed thermostat is used to switch a heater: the contact stays closed while the enclosure is cold and opens when the set temperature is reached. For a fan or filter fan, a normally open thermostat is needed instead, so check the contact type before ordering. In the region, heaters are mainly used against condensation, so the setting is usually a few degrees above the expected night-time temperature rather than a frost setting.

Mount the thermostat in the upper part of the enclosure, away from the heater outlet and from heat-producing components, so it measures the general air temperature rather than a local hot spot. Check the switching current of the heater against the contact rating, and use a relay for larger heaters. During maintenance, check the setting and the operation of the contact by adjusting the dial and listening for the switch.

Where several enclosures share one design, the same thermostat and heater combination can be repeated, which keeps spare parts simple for maintenance teams.
