06010.0-00 is the STEGO CS 060 enclosure heater in its 100 W rating, a compact PTC convection heater with a touch-safe plastic sheath for DIN rail mounting. A touch-safe PTC heater for condensation protection in enclosures

Condensation forms when an enclosure cools below the dew point of the air inside it, and a small, continuous heat input is the usual remedy. The CS 060 uses a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) heating element designed for continuous operation. As the element warms, its resistance rises and its output falls, so it does not overheat itself, which is the reason STEGO describes its surface temperature as low.

The plastic sheathing makes the heater safe to touch (Touchsafe, protection class II), and the unit clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail. STEGO also notes that the series is available with a fixed thermostat (tamper-proof) as the CSF 060, which removes the need for an external thermostat in simple installations.

Selection and ordering guide

The three CS 060 ratings share the same width and depth, so the step is mainly height and watts. The usual first guess is 100 W for a 600 x 600 x 300 mm cabinet in a mild environment, but treat it as a starting point and calculate from enclosure heat loss and the lowest ambient temperature expected (general practice, not a STEGO rule).

The diagram shows how the output of the 100 W unit rises from 85 W at +40 C to 122 W at -40 C, because the PTC element heats harder when it is cold. Note that STEGO says operation below 140 V AC/DC reduces heating capacity by about 10 %.

Installation and operation notes

Clip the heater to the DIN rail with the airflow direction in vertical and the connection at the bottom, so the chimney effect works as intended. Do not block the air path above or below it, and leave clearance to cables and plastic parts, since the air outlet temperature reaches 120 C.

Terminal tightening torque is 0.8 Nm maximum. For temperature control, STEGO shows the heater switched by an FTO 011 thermostat; for frost protection only, the heater can also be connected directly to AC as in the second connection example on the page.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Marshalling cabinets, remote I/O panels, outdoor kiosks, pumping-station panels and metering cubicles where night-time cooling in humid air creates condensation, including coastal sites with high humidity.

In hot climates the heater is mostly needed overnight or in air-conditioned rooms where cabinets are cooler than the humid outside air; a hygrostat such as the MFR 012 can limit running time.

Mount the heater low in the enclosure, with space around it for air to rise.
